🏆Meet our August employee of the month, Angee!

Angee serves as our medical case manager in our Health Plus Indiana - Austin clinic. She was nominated for employee of the month by a staff member who stated:

"She's always so helpful, I never have to ask she just does anything I need her to. She is so knowledgeable and has so much experience which is SO important in a position like an MA. She is kind and has a great rapport with all of our patients. It has been a huge help with earning the trust of our patients."

🏳️‍🌈Come help out The LGBTQ Center this weekend and see their new space! We're excited to work closely with The LGBTQ Center and support all the great initiatives they offer our community!

After taking some time off after a busy June, we're preparing the chapter of The LGBTQ Center.

We've moved to a new space (201 S. Williams St in South Bend) and this Saturday we're going to unpack and shape up the space however we want.

If you're free, swing by and help out. This will also be a great time to learn about the future of the Center and how to get involved.

Today we celebrate HIV Zero Stigma Day! At Health Plus Indiana, we believe everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.

We are working everyday through education and empathy to build a future where stigma has no place, conversations are open, and everyone feels empowered to access testing, treatment, and care.

Every act of kindness, every conversation, and every show of support brings us one step closer to ending HIV stigma. ❤️

This month we wanted to spotlight one of our amazing case managers, Aaron Pace! Aaron has worked in multiple roles with Health Plus Indiana and has been an asset in all of them. Aaron works hard to create a sense of community for our clients and staff alike. To learn more about Aaron, read our profile below!

📆 How long have you been with the organization?
I have been with Health Plus Indiana since January 27, 2025.

🫂What do you enjoy most about working for HPI?
What I love most about working at Health Plus Indiana is the people. We work with real people who are facing real-life challenges, and we truly care about one another. When someone is going through a difficult time, we support each other and show up for one another. We feel like a family, and we treat the community like family too. Being able to make a difference in people’s lives is what I enjoy the most.

🏆What’s one accomplishment you’re proud of?
One accomplishment I’m especially proud of is receiving the Trailblazer Advocate Award at the Long-Term Survivor event. I’m also proud of organizing a community event in South Bend that brought people together and connected them with valuable resources. Those experiences have meant a lot to me.

✈️What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy getting plenty of rest, working out when I can, trying new foods, and shopping. One thing I’d really like to start doing is taking solo trips and exploring new places on my own.

🩸 What would you tell someone who was scared to come in and get tested?
I would tell them that it’s always better to know your status than to not know. Your overall health is important, and your sexual health is just as important. Not knowing can put both you and others at risk. Getting tested may feel scary at first, but once you do it, you’ll realize it’s not as difficult as you imagined. For generations, many people have avoided talking about or taking care of their sexual health, but that has to change. Get tested, know your status, and if needed, get on a preventive medication. Taking that first step is worth it, and it gives you peace of mind.
