Feed The Hungry USA

Feed The Hungry USA We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) mission organization
Feed the Hungry~ Empower the Church~ Share Christ We recognize that hunger is more than physical.

Who We Are
We were founded by missionary statesmen Dr. Lester Sumrall (1913-1996) in 1987 to respond to those who pray “Give us this day our daily bread…”

What We Do
Feed the Hungry has delivered more that $400 million in food and supplies to hungry, hurting people in 92 countries around the globe. We respond with emergency food and relief to assist vic

tims of natural and man-made disasters like Myanmar earthquake, Gulf Coast hurricanes, war in the Ukraine and humanitarian aid in Africa. Feed the Hungry currently provides daily, nutritious food to over 620,000 children around the world. How We Work
Through financial and prayer support like yours, we deliver food and supplies using a pastor-to-pastor and church-to-church strategy. What Makes Us Different
Feed the Hungry directly oversees the entire relief process to make sure your contributions get into the hands of those who need it most – when they need it most. Under our direction and leadership, food is distributed through local church leaders who know their people and community needs. Even more important, hope is shared with hurting people who need to know they are not forgotten. Distribution of life-changing Bibles and other gospel centered resources help our partners on the ground feed the spiritual hunger of those to whom they minister.

Nicaragua: There are about 800 feeding centers spread out across the country. Located in schools and churches, each center works to provide food, clean water, gospel teaching, and a safe place for children to play.

Nicaragua: We often remember children who live in poverty, but what about the elderly? Missionary and Feed the Hungry partner Kendra saw those who were truly alone. The elderly women who do not have children or relatives to help take care of their needs. They are truly alone but not forgotten. The N.O.W. project supplies food and basic medical needs of these lovely elderly ladies.

Nicaragua: This Father's Day, celebrating the burdens fathers have to carry in silence. Being the provider and leader of a family comes with great responsibilities. Thank you to all our dads!

This personal story was shared with Feed the Hungry by partner Kendra “As we entered the dump late in the afternoon, all the pickers were sitting around instead of working. They told us that after waiting the entire day, only one city dump truck had come. What would they eat? As I looked around my eyes were drawn to a young father. He was kneeling down with his hands and head resting on the box of food he had just received. Was he tired, sick, overwhelmed, burdened? When he lifted his head, I asked him if he was ok. He said, ‘Yes, I am so grateful. Even though the trucks didn’t come today, you did, and my family will eat.’ He had knelt to be alone in his thoughts so he could thank God for what just happened.”

Nicaragua: “Churequeros” is a local Nicaraguan slang term that refers to waste pickers or scavengers. People travel from dump to dump and often get separated from their family members. Because of this, sometimes children end up orphaned or left behind.
Workers build their “homes” from whatever garbage they can find. Sticks, metal sheets, and plastic often can’t hold up to the wind and weather that pummels the mountain of trash they live on.

Nicaragua: Each day landfill workers search for trash and recyclables that they can sell for pennies. This is a very dangerous job, as you can imagine, even so children often must go with their parents as there isn’t a safe place for them to spend the day. Driving up to the top where they live and work is quite the climb!

Nicaragua: Managua, La Chureca, and Jinotega are well known massive mountain-size landfills. Many people who are struggling live near or on the landfills. Each day is spent searching for things to resell. Feed the Hungry Nicaragua meets their needs right where they are, just like Jesus would.
