It’s graduation season and we were thrilled to host The St. Thomas More Society (Catholic Lawyers) of the Notre Dame Law School last night. A memorable night for all involved. May the good Lord bless each one of the graduates!

The oddest moment of the evening for me was when Fr. Roberto Regoli walked into the backyard. 14 hours earlier while I was walking on the treadmill in the early hours of the morning, I watched an interview with him from the Vatican as the new head of the Ratzinger / Pope Benedict XVI Foundation. His smile and joy really struck me in that interview and I recognized him immediately when I saw him. This sort of surreal coincidence is becoming increasingly common at the pub. Cheers! 🍻

It started in tragedy. A large and venerable old tree in the backyard was lost to disease. Outside summer dining declined. Pub events suffered under the bright glare of floodlights unsoftened by the kind shielding protection of leaves.

Then a dream…. A dream of outdoor dining revival…. A dream of a future without the fragile borrowed pop up tents for pub events in days gone by.

Money materialized.

Boxes arrived.

Friends mobilized.

After too many hours of labor to count, we are now facing a much brighter future as we continue to strengthen and enhance the unique mission of St. Peter’s Pub. 🍻 ♥️🙏🏼

Thank you all!!! It takes a village. 😊

I didn’t really know who David Henrie was until he showed up in the pub one night after a conference at Notre Dame. I did know that my kids loved his show, “The Wizards of Waverly Place” when they were in grade school, but that’s about it. Back in the day, I had watched a few episodes and read about it online to be sure it wasn’t offensive or immoral, but it never really registered with me. At the end of the night when everyone had gone home, I texted my kids a photo of us behind the bar. Wow! I sure got a reaction! Since then I have followed his journey with keen interest. He seems like a kindred spirit to me.

If you have an hour to spare, I highly recommend this conversation between Bishop Barron and David. I found it very compelling.
