I didn’t really know who David Henrie was until he showed up in the pub one night after a conference at Notre Dame. I did know that my kids loved his show, “The Wizards of Waverly Place” when they were in grade school, but that’s about it. Back in the day, I had watched a few episodes and read about it online to be sure it wasn’t offensive or immoral, but it never really registered with me. At the end of the night when everyone had gone home, I texted my kids a photo of us behind the bar. Wow! I sure got a reaction! Since then I have followed his journey with keen interest. He seems like a kindred spirit to me.
