In light of the seismic shifts in our national voting landscape over the last few weeks—specifically the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Louisiana v. Callais and the Virginia Supreme Court’s ruling striking down redistricting protections—we are calling an emergency briefing in Indianapolis.
The Agenda
This forum is designed as a strategic response to recent judicial precedents and how it will impact our voting rights, democracy and quality of life. We will connect these high court decisions to the immediate kitchen table issues—such as healthcare, housing, and economic mobility—that are most at risk when Black political power is diluted.
Our Panelists Include:
-Reyna Walters Morgan, Vice Chair for Civic Engagement and Voter Participation for the Democratic National Committee
-Arielle Brandy, Executive Director, Indiana Voices and Votes
-Dr. Joseph Tucker Edmunds, Associate Professor of Religious Studies and Africana Studies, IUI School of Liberal Arts, Affiliate Faculty, IUI Lilly Family School of Philanthropy
-Susan Hall Dotson, African American Collections Curator, Indiana Historical Society
-Damien Connors, Senior Program Officer for Defending Inclusive Democracy of the Kettering Foundation
-Josh Riddick, State Director of Live Free Indiana
