It has been estimated that healthy old-growth forests in Western Washington could rival the carbon capture cabilities of tropical rainforests. Records like this, which remind us of what could be here again, will be all that’s left of these ancient trees long after the stumps have rotted away.

The Niawiakum River from almost 400’ up.
