How did you first become involved in the pro life movement?

I (Mary) come from a very large Catholic family that has always been strongly pro-life, so I have been involved in the movement since I was young. When I was younger, my mom used to take my siblings and me to an abortion clinic to pray, so the pro-life movement has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Outside of my parents’ influence, I personally began getting involved when I was around twelve years old. I started volunteering for a local pro life organization in my city, and I did some of the behind the scenes volunteering and helping run events.

What have you learned from the people who disagree with you?

One of the things I have learned is you can have respectable and productive conversations with people who disagree with you. It does not always have to be an argument, and you can actually have good conversations with people. When it comes to the issue of abortion, I think understanding another person's perspective is really helpful for you in being able to change their mind because you cannot reach somebody if you do not know where their experiences are coming from.

Sometimes people will comment this on our page, and we're not really sure what the objective is. There's no reason to believe that our activism has directly inspired as many abortions as anonymous accounts claim they have, but even if someone decided to end the life of their child after our work, the problem does not lie in us exposing the evil of abortion, it lies in someone's willingness to oppress a smaller person.

Sadly, it brings to light another matter. You don't name clumps of cells, you name people. Each person who was aborted was a unique human, who could have had a name and a beautiful life story. It's time for everyone to stand up for them 🌟

OVERPASS OUTREACH: we reached over 5000 commuters with the pro-life message today! We had a ton of people waving and beeping, especially semis coming down the highway under the overpass. A big THANK YOU to the 7 new volunteers who came to outreach, and who are all planning to get further involved in defending pre-born children from violence.

Pray for 1 woman we talked to who was very angry about all the injustices happening in the world and was pro-choice. We were able to build some common ground with her on agreeing on problems in the system *and* acknowledging that even if someone has suffered a lot in their life, their life still has meaning and value.

"We have started to do Sunday door-knocking shifts and it honestly has been really good. We had great conversations! At our last shift, we had a dad open up [to us] about a condition his son had. His son unfortunately passed away, but he was still an advocate for not aborting his child due to the condition. We were able to really connect with him and it was touching to see that despite what he and his wife went through during her pregnancy, they were very much still pro-life and did not want the option of killing their child." - Mia, VFL Activist
