A huge thank you to everyone who attended the Civic on Sunday at the Tapestry of the American Experiment to celebrate the birth of our nation, the foundation of democratic principles, and the ongoing journey to secure liberty and equality for all citizens. Your presence made the event what we meant it to be: a unifying moment with the words of our ancestors as well as the music from the Revolutionary War to today.
Thanks also to the speakers for presenting the words of those who came before us and helped form the country we all love: Jayna Cohn, a Rocky Point high school student: John Broven, a British-born jazz and blues music historian; and Civic members Amelia and Kevin Creedon, Ernestine Franco, Patrice Perreca, and Stephanie Ruales.

The day would not have been possible without all the volunteers too many to mention.

Last but not least it was made memorable by our own Leon Adler, who produced such a meaningful presentation with the music that helped shape our nation. Leon also taped the speakers and will incorporate the readings with the production we saw on Sunday and you will be able to see the whole program on YouTube. We are so lucky to have Leon in our community.

Experience the 250 years of our country through excerpts of inspiring speeches and the music that helped shape our country. We're looking for vendors, businesses, organizations, and crafters who want to be part of this amazing event and showcase what they have to offer.

The Civic's America 250 event A Tapestry of the America Experiment is only 4 days away, Sunday, June 14, 2 PM, at the Sound Beach firehouse.

Through a coordinated video presentation by our own Leon Adler, speakers will present meaningful readings accompanied by stirring musical interludes and audience sing-alongs honoring the birth, ideals, and enduring promise of our country.

There will be some delicious appetizers from Uncle Giuseppe and you'll get a taste of some yummy home-made desserts.

We We are grateful to those of you who have reserved seats for the event--this gave us an idea of how much food to have.

We know, however, that sometimes it's hard to make a commitment, so, on a first-come first-served basis, there will be seats for you at the tables if you just show up.

Come celebrate with us.

We look forward to seeing you.

Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
