10 REASONS TO PLAY MID-COUNTY PONY BASEBALL
1) Fun - Our league would not be here after more than 69 years if the regular seasons were not fun, fulfilling, and rewarding to every child, volunteer, fan, coach, or board member.
2) Affordable - $350 total for four months of spring baseball.
3) Local - Games are played at the Polo Grounds Park in Aptos and a few interleague games are played at Franich Park in Watsonville and Harvey West Park in Santa Cruz (mostly on Saturdays).
4) The Reps - Starting in February through the end of May teams will have around 20 practices and 20 games (weather permitting of course).
5) Inclusive - Our league is for any player who wants to improve their skills, get plenty of playing time, meet new friends, and learn about teamwork and good sportsmanship.
6) Quality Umpires - Our games are officiated by the Santa Cruz County Baseball Umpires Association which also umpires Santa Cruz PONY league games and Santa Cruz County high school freshman, junior varsity and varsity games.
7) Snack Shack - The Cabrillo Host Lions Club operates the Snack Shack on Saturdays throughout the season. A portion of the proceeds go to help fund Mid-County PONY.
8 ) Field - Our home field at the Polo Grounds in Aptos has been significantly improved in recent years. New permanent restrooms and the Snack Shack were built and opened in 2016. Our league fundraising paid for a new sod infield in 2022. League fundraising and community business donations paid for a new scorebooth and the installation a full size outfield scoreboard in 2025.
9) Interleague Games - In additional to regular season league games we play interleague games with Watsonville PONY and Santa Cruz PONY leagues.
10) Spring Season - Practices start in February and games begin in early March and continue through May. The season ends before the last week of school.
