The Tuolumne Community Collaborative is a partnership that provides a seven-week training program, designed for participants to learn basic construction skills, concrete forming, and earn a number of industry-recognized certificates along the way is scheduled to begin on February 28th, 2020. Participants in the program also earn a stipend payment to help support them during the duration of the course.
The class runs through April 17th, and is organized through a collaborative effort involving the Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools Office, San Joaquin County Office of Education, Greater Valley Conservation Corps, Habitat for Humanity, Tuolumne County Probation Department, Mother Lode Job Training, Northern California Carpenters Training Center, Laborers Joint Apprenticeship Council, and San Francisco Public Utilities Commission.
This pre-apprenticeship training program was designed to prepare individuals to enter the trades for work in the public and private construction industry, including SFPUC Infrastructure projects. Another goal is to develop enough skilled workers that live in this region to fill union and non-union jobs in our community and keep money local.
This is the fourth cycle of training offered through this collaborative effort, and participants from past trainings have had a very high rate of success in getting and retaining entry level work in the construction trades.
Deadline to apply is Friday, February 8th. To get more information or an application to the program contact the project coordinator Julia Stephens, at 209-401-1966 or email her at [email protected].
