Sierra Rock Garden Society

Sierra Rock Garden Society Chapter of the North American Rock Garden Society. www.facebook.com/groups/sierrarockgardensociety Rock gardens can be built on large slopes or tiny garden beds.

We also have a Facebook group at www.facebook.com/groups/sierrarockgardensociety

Rock gardens are gardens composed of plants and flowers that grow well among rocks. They are often based on low growing and compact flowering perennials and bulbs. They include open gardens, raised beds, woodland gardens, bog gardens, and container gardens. Gardening in our climate is always different from gardening

elsewhere in the country, and membership in SRGS gives you the benefit of learning from fellow gardeners that have been gardening in the same climate. What works for the rest of the country doesnโ€™t always work here! Our membership draws from many backgrounds and interests, and contains enthusiasts in Western natives, Mediterranean plants, and many other rock garden plants. While our members vary greatly in their levels of experience, they all share an enthusiasm for plants and a willingness to share their own gardening experiences. We hope to inspire all of our members to expand their gardening horizons. We hold plant and cutting exchanges, tour each others gardens, and generally have a lot of fun while learning about plants.

Our native bulbs are some of our most beautiful treasures, perfectly adapted to our climate. We will go on a photographic tour of some of our beautiful native bulb/corm species, and will then discuss how easy it is to get them established in your own garden or landscape. There will be a special emphasis on growing these bulbs from seed, and we hope to have some locally sourced seed to give to interested participants. Members who have access to seed are invited to collect some for this event.

This will be an evening talk, during dinner time. Bring your own non-alcoholic beverage, finger food to share, or just your own dinner/snacks.
Mariposa Native Plants will be on hand with plants for sale at this event.
Open to the public. Invite your friends!
