The mission of the Tuolumne Historical Railroad Association, Inc.

(THRA) is to preserve, enhance, and interpret the rich railroad history of Tuolumne County, California, and the surrounding region. (THRA) is to preserve, The mission of the Tuolumne Historical Railroad Association, Inc. THRA strives to educate the public about historical railroad activities available there. To accomplish these goals THRA pursues fundraising opportunities and sponsors various projects and events in partnership with Railtown 1897 State Historic Park, the California State Railroad Museum Foundation, the Sierra Northern Railroad, and other historical museums and organizations, all for the betterment of Tuolumne County.

This photo brings back many great memories for me. The date is September 5, 1971 and we see the PLA tripleheader on the Sierra Railroad at Keystone. SRR #3 #28 and #34 are the power.
To the right of the train is one of the old GN Blackjack hoppers that were set on sections of track between the railroad and the highway to serve as billboards for the "new" Railtown 1897 that the Crocker Family had established when they returned steam to the Sierra Railroad.
I remember on my trips to the Motherlode to photograph the railroads there looking forward to seeing these hoppers as they told me I was getting close.
