We are incredibly proud to see the ABC 7 segment for the Sonoma Veterans War Memorial highlighted for the 68th Annual Memorial Day Service. 🇺🇸

Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and helped honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Seeing our community come together in remembrance is truly meaningful, and we are honored to help continue this important tradition year after year.

A special thank you to ABC 7 for recognizing the significance of this event and helping share the spirit of remembrance, patriotism, and community that Memorial Day represents.

Today, Sonoma came together to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. 🇺🇸

Thank you to everyone who attended Sonoma’s Memorial Day service and joined us afterward for the BBQ. Your presence helped make this day of remembrance meaningful and showed the strength of our community.

As we gathered to reflect, share stories, and enjoy time together, we honored those who gave everything for the freedoms we enjoy today. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a new law focused on protecting veterans from fraud and giving them a tax break.

Many veterans and active service members are targeted by shady companies that charge high fees or mislead them when they’re trying to get federal benefits. This law makes it easier to stop those scams and protect veterans’ money and information.

🛡️ What the New Law Does
Here are the key protections and benefits in simple terms:

1. Stronger Rules Against Scammers
Only federally accredited people can help veterans file for federal benefits.
Unapproved helpers can’t charge fees unless federal law clearly allows it.
1. It’s now illegal for others to use a veteran’s login info or PINs to access secure systems.
➡️ This helps stop “claims sharks” — companies that take advantage of veterans looking for help.
2. A New Tax Break for Veterans
Military retirees and surviving spouses can now exclude up to $20,000 of their income from California state income tax each year.
