Let’s be real: our veterans aren’t looking for a participation trophy. They’re looking for a mission.

Transitioning to civilian life in Sonoma County shouldn’t mean hanging up the leadership boots. In fact, the best way to support those who served is to let them lead right here at home. Local volunteering isn't just about 'giving back': it's a high-impact transition strategy that turns recipients into local leaders once again.

Whether it’s a community project in Petaluma or a mentorship program in Santa Rosa, our vets have the skills we need. They don’t just show up; they take the lead. It's about shifting the narrative from 'what can we do for you?' to 'what can we do together?'

See why leadership is the secret sauce to a successful transition and how you can get involved in our neck of the woods.

Sign up. Show up. Lead the way.

Transitioning from military to civilian life is about more than just finding a job: it’s about finding your place. At Keeping Veterans Local, we prioritize a hyper-local approach. Real, face-to-face connection is the most powerful tool for building a stronger future in your community.

Building your local network takes effort, but these 5 steps will help you bridge the gap:

1. Strategize: Map out your goals for local integration.
2. Face-to-Face: Prioritize real-life meetings over digital ones.
3. Routine: Show up consistently at community events and local spots.
4. Local Mentorship: Connect with a guide who knows the neighborhood.
5. Pro Support: Use local systems designed to help veterans thrive.

Your community is ready to welcome you home. Let’s make those connections count.

🇺🇸 Memorial Day | Santa Rosa 🇺🇸

Today, Santa Rosa stands still for a moment beneath the waving flags and golden California sky to honor the brave men and women who gave everything in service to this country. Their sacrifice is stitched into the fabric of our freedom, carried in every sunrise, every family gathering, and every opportunity we’re blessed to have.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It is remembrance. It is gratitude. It is the echo of courage that still moves through communities like ours every single day.

From Keeping Veterans Local we salute the fallen heroes, honor their families, and thank all who continue to serve with strength and dedication.

Santa Rosa, today we remember. 🇺🇸🕊️
