Good news! We are increasing our post-high school funding per student from $1,000 to $2,000. This is 'free' money students can use to further their studies and apply to any expenses after high school. The requirement is to have taken one 3 or 5 credit hour course as a dual enrolled student and to achieve a B- or greater. Dual enrollment is an excellent opportunity for students to try out college level material, bolster their confidence and begin to build for their future. DEADLINE REMINDER: SRJC dual-enrollment registration for high school students is coming up on December 11(*). There are some great classes, some of which are highlighted in our quarterly newsletter on our website www.soarsonoma.com . Think about the skills or knowledge that your student may need for work or college after high school: Photoshop for any marketing or graphics roles, Excel for any business or math, and many many good entry-level and informative courses on business, computer science, and more. SOAR Sonoma is here and happy to help any families or students with information, guidance and financial assistance on their path!

(*) Registration begins on the morning of December 11 and continues for the next few weeks or until a class section is full, whichever is earlier. With online courses, there are many day/time options that suit the SVHS class schedule for students wanting to enroll in 1 - 2 SRJC courses for Spring 2021.

SOAR Sonoma is on a mission! We want to increase Sonoma's dual enrollment rates to 12% - to be on par with the California averages.

Students who dual enroll in college courses while in high school have greater rates of success both in high school and college. They gain confidence and earn credits while also reducing their overall costs of college education.

Creating awareness of the opportunity and helping students navigate is our goal. Like to Follow us and help us spread the word!

By the way, we have a great BLOG on our website with more information about dual enrollment and the benefits to students. Here is an example of what is on our blog:

DUAL ENROLLED STUDENTS GET A LEG UP
High school students taking college courses has increased in California over the years, however, it is still behind national averages. Our organization hopes to change that - by providing funding for fees and materials along with guidance to leverage the programs available to them to get a leg up. Here is a great white paper on courses taken, data on students served, and potential.
