In 1979, residents of Cambridge, MA organized for a ballot question to cease investment in apartheid South Africa, asking: Shall the City of Cambridge refrain from investing public monies in banks and other financial institutions doing business in or with the Republic of South Africa?
Today we continue that moral tradition with our boycott and divestment work regarding Israel's apartheid, genocide and illegal occupation in Palestine. It is always a local matter wherever in the world there is injustice, especially when we are economically entwined with the oppressor.
