On Thursday, June 11 Somerville city council introduced an ordinance boycotting and divesting from Israel’s apartheid, genocide, and Palestine. 🇵🇸🇵🇸

City Councilors Ewen-Campen and Sait shared how Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza called for the council to take action in this moment. Thank you to Councilor Will Mbah for sponsoring Amina Awad and Erin Axelman. We will keep taking action until Somerville is no longer complicit in Israel’s crimes until Palestine is free!

‼️🇵🇸VICTORY FOR PALESTINE IN SOMERVILLE LAST NIGHT‼️🇵🇸

Last night, Somerville made history as an ordinance was introduced to implement Question 3, which asked the city to cease business with all companies complicit in Israel’s genocide, apartheid and illegal occupation in Palestine. This is the bold step forward for Somerville to divest and boycott from Israel’s crimes!

And as always, our people showed up to sing, speak and witness this moment that reflects thousands of hours of work by hundreds of members and allies. We are not done; the ordinance will go to Legislative Matters next where we will push to make sure it is as strong as possible, before returning to City Council for a vote. The tide is turning. Free Palestine!!
