New England Science Fiction Association - NESFA - Page

New England Science Fiction Association - NESFA - Page NESFA is one of the oldest science fiction clubs in New England. Our largest activities are Boskone, our annual convention, and NESFA Press.

NESFA, the New England Science Fiction Association, was founded in 1967 by fans who wanted to do conventions, in addition to socializing. What we do has changed over time, most notably with the growth of NESFA Press, but the club is still organized on that principle. NESFA has nearly 400 members, mostly Subscribing members from all over the world. Anyone who's interested can join as a Subscribing

member (dues are $20 per year) to help sustain the activities and events put on by the club; members who demonstrate a willingness to do volunteer work are often invited to another class of membership. In most months NESFA holds two formal meetings on Sunday afternoons, one mostly for conducting business and the other mostly for socializing; many of the active members also gather at our clubhouse nearly every Wednesday evening for work and socializing. You can find the full calendar of events here: http://www.nesfa.org

NESFA also puts on Boskone, the oldest Science Fiction convention in the Northeast USA. Boskone is held at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel over Preisdents' Day Weekend every February. NESFA is one of the oldest science fiction clubs in the northeastern U.S., and it has been a registered non-profit literary organization (under IRS section 501(c)3) since shortly after its founding. We welcome all new members

We are still waiting for the magnets to include in the Kickstarter shipments. We hope to start sending out copies of Dubious Pleasures next week around 4/8.

Dubious Pleasures, the Boskone 63 Book, has finally safely arrived at the NESFA Clubhouse. We are working out a plan to get the necessary books signed and numbered and sent out to people. The latter two are relatively easy. Figuring out the logistics of getting the books signed in the most expeditious safe fashion (as Greg Cox is not local) will take a little while. We hope to have an update next week.

PS Dubious Pleasures may be ordered at https://www.nesfa.org/book/dubious-pleasures-5-2/ and we will ship as soon as possible.

Collected for the first time! Nearly twenty original stories by award-winning, New York Times bestselling author Greg Cox. Written over … Continue reading "Dubious Pleasures"

"Excess" Books ... and DVDs too!

Looking for something to read or watch? We’ve found lots of duplicate books while cataloging our library. We also received a donation of DVDs, some of which we had and others of which are out of genre. The excess books and DVDs are available for a suggested donation of $1-$5 per book or DVD. Stop by the NESFA Clubhouse when we are open which is generally Wednesdays from Noon to 9 PM, Saturdays from Noon to 6 PM, and most Sundays (but usually not the second Sunday of the month) from Noon to 9 PM. (Check the NESFA Events Page for our schedule.) The excess books and DVDs are in the area by the back door to the clubhouse in two bookcases on the left wall and in boxes on the floor. Most new books from NESFA Press (on the metal shelves to the right) are also available at 20% off the cover price for non-members and 40% off the cover price for members.
