Last month our wonderful partners and donors made it possible for Second Chances to deliver new socks, underwear, and backpacks to Somerville Public Schools just in time for the new school year.

Every child should be able to attend school with confidence and dignity - and our partnership with Somerville Public Schools makes that possible. For folks who face poverty and clothing insecurity, lack of access to clean, new undergarments can be a challenge that’s not widely known or acknowledged.

Thank you to our incredible partners and donors, including Kids and as well as individuals who donate through our Amazon Wishlist, for enabling Second Chances to reach students in our local schools, so they can focus on learning.

We’re back at the warehouse and excited to fill clothing requests for cooler weather! 👕🍂

With the arrival of fall and cooler weather, we’re stocking our partners and their clients with essentials like socks and underwear from our generous in-kind partners, Bombas and Cocotree Kids , which we’re delivering to provider partners today.

We’re grateful for everyone who has purchased much-needed cool weather items from our Amazon Wishlist. Every donation helps us provide free clothing to neighbors in need. 💙

Our team is back on the road, bringing carefully selected clothing to our provider partners so they can get these essentials directly to neighbors who need them.

As the colder months approach, we have a particular need for sweatshirts, sweatpants, and leggings. We’re also always grateful for gently used clothing, shoes, and accessories for all seasons, not just fall and winter.

Join Lawyers for Civil Rights and community partners on October 28, 2026 at Brewer Fountain on Boston Common for Zapatos Rojos, a powerful public art installation and protest honoring women affected by gender-based violence.

Second Chances is proud to be part of this collaborative effort alongside organizations and community leaders working to amplify women’s voices and the message of Zapatos Rojos.

Please join us on October 28 as we come together as a community to honor, remember, and raise awareness.

Visit us at Tufts Community Day on October 4!

The Second Chances team will be at the Tufts campus to share information about how you can get involved, whether you are interested in volunteering, hosting a clothing drive, donating, or finding other ways to support our mission.

Tufts has been a valued Second Chances partner for 21 years. We are grateful for the many Tufts volunteers, two student interns, and the ongoing support of the Tufts community.

We are also proud to have three Second Chances donation bins on Tufts property, two on the main campus and one at the Somerville TAB.

The first day of fall is September 22, and it’s the perfect time for a closet refresh!

As you pack away summer clothes, shop for back-to-school, or make room for the new season, consider donating clothing you no longer wear or need. Second Chances accepts gently used and new clothing, shoes, and accessories for all ages, genders, and seasons at our local clothing drives and donation bins.

Together with our community, we reuse and recycle more than 300,000 pounds of apparel each year while providing free clothing to neighbors in need!

After a successful first-time clothing drive, the Janitronics team deepened their impact with a generous financial donation to Second Chances. Their financial support helps us pay for staffing, space, and supplies so we can be a reliable source of high-quality clothing for our neighbors in need.

On September 15th, we’re partnering with Note in the Pocket to recognize the first National Clothing Insecurity Awareness Day.

This hidden crisis means many families cannot afford basic necessities, including properly-fitted, seasonally-appropriate, and good-condition clothing. Second Chances has clothed more than 1,300 neighbors in need - of all ages and genders - in the past 12 months.

You can help raise awareness and make a difference by:
-Donating gently used clothing and shoes
-Hosting a clothing drive in our community
-Supporting clothing distribution programs with your charitable giving
-Spreading the word to help reduce stigma and inspire action
