Last night’s support group session with Anne Marie Robbins, estate planning attorney was a resounding success! Highly informative, interactive, and deeply educational, the presentation delivered practical insights on wills, trusts, incapacity planning, and protecting loved ones—sparking thoughtful questions and valuable discussions. A powerful reminder that proactive estate planning brings clarity and peace of mind for every stage of life.

This meeting served to provide valuable information to everyone, regardless of your wealth or health status. Each component of last nights presentation served as a reminder that, every so often, we should conduct a self analysis and asked the question; am I prepared that best way(s) possible should unexpected crisis’ occur?

We had 27 attendees during our virtual meeting and I can’t thank you all enough for your participation which made for a great meeting!

What a meaningful afternoon we had on May 13th! This meeting was a wonderful continuation of the powerful discussion we began in April. Once again, the topic of Finding Hope and Silver Linings brought out heartfelt, inspiring, and deeply moving stories from everyone who attended.

We talked openly about gratitude and the appreciation of life — even while navigating the realities of a myeloma diagnosis. Members shared personal experiences with such sincerity and emotion that we truly got to know one another on a much deeper level.

Debbie and I feel incredibly fortunate to lead such a caring, open, and dedicated group. The willingness you all show to support one another — through sharing your stories, offering encouragement, and lifting each other up — is truly special. Thank you for trusting the group with your experiences and for making these meetings so meaningful.

We left feeling more hopeful, more grateful, and more connected. These conversations remind us that even on the hardest days, silver linings are there — and together, we find them more easily.

If you missed this meeting but would like to join us next time, please reach out! New members and caregivers are always welcome.

With gratitude,
Frank & Debbie

You’re Invited: Myeloma Support Group – Finding Hope & Silver Linings

We had such a positive and uplifting discussion on this topic at our April in-person meeting that we want to keep the great momentum going

Living with myeloma brings real challenges, but it can also open the door to deeper appreciation, unexpected joys, stronger connections, and new ways to thrive. If you’re a patient or caregiver navigating this journey, you’re warmly invited to our next in person meeting, on May 13, at Steeplechase Cancer Center, Somerville, NJ. Our meeting starts at 5:30 pm and will end at approximately 7:15 pm.

Join us for an uplifting, honest conversation on Finding Hope and Silver Linings with a myeloma diagnosis. We’ll share real-life experiences — the ups, downs, and everything in between — while focusing on practical adjustments, and the many positive ways people are creating meaningful, energized lives even with this disease.

Whether you’re newly diagnosed, a long-term survivor a caregiver supporting a loved one, or simply looking for encouragement and community, this meeting is for could be for you. Expect warmth, laughter, good stories, helpful tips (like fatigue management and turning tough days into more good moments), and a chance to leave feeling more hopeful and connected.

Caregivers and family members are especially welcome — your perspective matters too!

Come as you are. No pressure to share — just show up and be part of something positive. Together we prove that hope is real, silver linings exist, and we’re stronger when we walk this path side by side.

****Please bring a mask in the event someone is uncomfortable without a masking at this meeting. At our last meeting some members brought small snacks that were shared…this is optional. Also, since it’s dinner time, please feel free to bring your own dinner and beverage ****

The Central New Jersey Multiple Myeloma Support Group, had another excellent, virtual meeting last evening with 33 members in attendance! We had a guest speaker from the MMRF, discussing diagnostic testing, with a specific focus on lab results.

This topic is always an important tooic for all patients. The number of lab tests that are conducted could be absolutely overwhelming, especially for newly diagnosed patients; understanding your lab values is an essential component of managing and being a proactive participant in your healthcare. Developing an understanding of your lab values allows a patient to have an engaged understanding of test results with their medical team as well as having the patient become more inquisitive in unwrapping some of the mystery with these tests. Basically, the patient and or their care team become advocates, which most always results in better dialogue with your medical team.

Great questions from the group last night as well as a very informative open discussion session after the presentation. Thank you everyone!

The Central New Jersey Multiple Myeloma Support Group met last evening at the Steeplechase Cancer Center in Somerville, NJ. We had 21 members attend, which is another exceptional turnout for our off-cycle in person meetings. We do meet virtually, the first Wednesday of each month as well.

The updates our members provided were highly motivational and inspiring! Each member took the time to share their myeloma story and medical update, however the energy and positive outlook of each individual was truly heartwarming. Each member shared how fortunate they were to travel, explore different parts of the world, spending time with family and in particular, seeing their families grow…especially grandchildren in many cases. Each member has experienced many challenges, each very unique in their own way, but many have now shared their “silver linings” as a result of their diagnosis. This will be the template for future in-person meetings; a renewed outlook on life, the gratitude for what we have and how we have endured unique challenges.

Building a positive framework with our support group is important. We will not dismiss or overlook the realities of our situation, however we will capitalize on the positivity of our circumstances in a shared and uplifting manner.

This was a terrific meeting and I can’t thank each member for their time and contributions to our group!
