This Tuesday’s noon meeting at the Mt. Vernon Restaurant & Pub in Somerville, MA, Rotary Club of Somerville presented Camicha Senat of Somerville as the winner of this year's Somerville Rotary Scholarship. 👏👏👏 Congratulations again Camicha!!! 🎉🎉🎉

Looking ahead, Rotary Club of Somerville will be In-Action, servicing in the Mayor's Annual Senior Picnic on August 8th at Trum Field (rain date August 9th), from 11:00am - 1:00pm.

Rotary Club of Somerville will assist in serving lunch and dessert; handing out pre-packaged gifts, and marking off senior's tickets. Please put this on your calendar. It's a fun event. 🤩🤩🤩

Somerville’s Food Drive

The Somervile Rotary Club held its semi-annual Food Drive on Saturday, September 17. This event collects non-perishable food items, diapers, personal care items, Gift Cards and cash. Beneficiaries include local food pantries, shelters, a local senior organization and an elementary school. The...

Thank you Ann & Cyrus for volunteering and being out in the community!

Sending out thanks to Ann Kirby and Cyrus Amin from the Somerville Rotary Club, for volunteering at our Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) earlier this week.

The program provides two bags of groceries to eligible local older adults on the first Tuesday morning of each month, through a partnership with the Greater Boston Food Bank. are always needed to help process the food and make deliveries. Membership:

Members meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month at 12 PM at the Mt. Vernon Restaurant & Pub in Somerville fellowship and to establish the service projects, goals and direction of the club. We are currently involved in many projects including:
• Food Drives for local Food Pantries
• Participation in effort to eliminate polio world-wide
• Support communities nationwide in a time of crisis
• Ongoing support of local food pantries and homeless and domestic abuse shelters
• Sponsor Reginal Science Fair
• Awarding of scholarship for high school students who reside in Somerville.

The History of Rotary:

Rotary is the world's first service club. In February of 1905, a young lawyer, Paul P. Harries and three of his friends, started the Rotary movement in Chicago. The group wished to recapture the friendly small-town spirit that they had grown up with but felt it lost in the big city; hence the name that is now known internationally.

Rotary is a worldwide Service Organization whose purpose is tp provide humanitarian assistance, encurage ethical standards and promote peace.

Internationally, there are 34,282 member clubs and 1.2 million Rotarian members.
