Danny Gokey is coming to Our Place and bringing blessings with him!
Better Than I Found It, the nonprofit organization founded by American Idol alum and three-time GRAMMY® nominee Danny Gokey, has announced their special “Bus Stop” Giveback event taking place at Our Place (a division of God’s Food Pantry) in Somerset, KY on Wednesday, 5/7/2025. The Giveback will feature a surprise visit from Gokey, as well as a donation of supplies and resources from Better Than I Found It to Our Place to support their continued work of serving those in need.
“God’s Food Pantry/Our Place continually seeks more ways to respond to the needs of the community,” said Gokey. “They’ve been faithful for 43 years, and we want to help make sure they continue helping those in need in Kentucky and Tennessee for the next 43 years."
Our Place is a 35,000 sq ft. redistribution center warehouse in Somerset, KY that provides resources to schools, churches, and nonprofit partners, allowing them to better serve their clients and help people in need throughout Kentucky and Tennessee. The warehouse contains hundreds of life-changing resources including clothing, shoes, small appliances, bedding, baby supplies, cleaning items, toys, school supplies, toiletries, and so much more. Our Place’s founding agency, God’s Food Pantry, is the largest serving food pantry in South Central Kentucky. They serve supplemental food daily and provide 80,000+ food service visits yearly to those in need.
God’s Food Pantry has continually sought more ways to serve families in need. They have recently announced plans to open OakPointe Centre, a new 100,000 sq ft multipurpose facility focused on helping families overcome obstacles to self-sufficiency. The new facility will not only include a food pantry, but also a clothing and feeding center, with an additional 45,000 sq ft. available for lease to other partner entities dedicated to moving poverty-stricken families forward in their lives.
