Lake Cumberland Recovery will be set up at Advanced Family Medical Clinic this Saturday, October 10 from 5–7 PM with free Halloween costumes for local kids and families.

They’ll also have their Trunk or Treat going on that evening, so stop by, see us, and let the kids pick out a costume while you’re there.

Missy Worley has been with Lake Cumberland Sober Living since 2022, and she’s become a big part of what makes LCSL feel like a family.

As Director, Missy wears a lot of hats. She works closely with residents, staff, judges, attorneys, probation and parole officers, and the court system to help people keep moving forward. She’s the person answering calls, working through problems, advocating when someone needs it, and making tough decisions when they have to be made.

She leads with a lot of compassion, but she’ll also tell you the truth. She believes in giving people grace, treating them with respect, and giving them every fair opportunity to do something different with their life. Her faith is a big part of that and so is her own understanding of recovery.

“Helping others isn’t something I have to do. It’s something I get to do.”

That same motto carries over into her own life too. This year, while continuing to run LCSL, Missy earned her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University.

There’s plenty that goes into this job that people outside of it never see, but what stands out most about Missy is how much she genuinely cares about the people in front of her. Residents, staff, families. She just wants to see people do well.

Meet the Bobbsey Twins. Jeremy and Eric keep transportation moving, hotel arrangements handled, and about a hundred other things behind the scenes. If something needs taken care of, there’s a pretty good chance one of these two is already on it. We appreciate everything y’all do to keep things running and take care of our people.

This Saturday is Bub’s last day with Lake Cumberland Sober Living. We wanted to take a moment to thank him for everything he’s poured into this program.

If you’ve spent any time around our sober living community, you’ve probably seen Bub wherever he was needed. Whether he was leading Celebrate Recovery, encouraging our brothers, or holding people accountable with love and grace, he never hesitated to step in and help.

Recovery is built by people who consistently show up, and Bub has been one of those people. His heart for serving others has left a lasting impact on the men he’s walked alongside.

We’re also celebrating the life he’s built for himself. Through recovery, he’s restored relationships with his children and grandchildren and continues to show what can happen when someone stays the course.

Thank you, Bub, for your heart, your willingness to do whatever needed done, and the example you’ve set for so many. You’ll always be part of the LCR/LCSL family, and we wish you nothing but the best in this next chapter. ❤️

Some people spend their sobriety rebuilding their own lives. Some spend it helping rebuild someone else’s.

For the past two years, Misti has done both.

Today we’re celebrating two years of sobriety with someone who shows up every day with a smile, a laugh, and a heart for the women in our homes. If you’ve spent any time around her, you’ve probably seen firsthand how much she cares about the people she serves.

Congratulations on two years, Misti. We’re thankful you’re part of the Lake Cumberland Sober Living family, and we can’t wait to see what the years ahead hold.

Just one of the things that makes sober living so special. You’re surrounded by people who are working toward the same goal and helping each other get there. For many of us, that’s exactly what we needed!

In active addiction it’s easy to feel like you don’t really have a place anymore. All of your relationships have been hurt. Trust has been broken. Life feels smaller than it used to, and it’s easy to believe you’re going to have to figure this all out alone.

Then you find recovery and things slowly starts to change. You meet people who understand the parts of your story you usually try to hide. You laugh again. You start showing up. You find people who care whether you make it.

Recovery gave us a place to belong, and for a lot of us that changed everything.

Roger, Jacob, Bub, and Jessie have been doing an awesome job over at our Sober Living. Ask around and you’ll hear the same thing over and over: they genuinely care about the men staying there.

They’ve built a strong sense of brotherhood, they’re not afraid to hold people accountable when needed, and they’re helping make our sober living feel like more than just a place to stay.

We appreciate everything you guys do and the impact you’re making every day.
