During a routine doctor visit, I was given a MOCA assessment and diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment. I was shocked.

We are a faith-rooted community for those in life’s second half who still believe there is MORE—more to learn, more to give, and more to discover through wonder, faith, and community. With over 20 years of experience as a Christian Counselor specializing in emotional health, this news was unexpected. The doctor explained his recommended plan and how it could benefit me, but I needed a loved one or

friend to participate in the process. Curious, I asked, "What if someone doesn’t have that kind of support?" The doctor’s response—that they couldn’t participate—didn’t sit well with me. I wanted to know how I could become a support for those in that situation. His recommendation was to become a 2.0 ReCode Coach, which I did. However, I soon realized something was missing. The program didn’t address unresolved trauma, grief, or spirituality—essential elements in the healing process. My search for a more complete approach led me to Dr. Daniel Amen’s "Brain Health" program, where I became a certified Brain Health Coach. I believe combining these two programs offers a holistic way to help others. Personally, I applied both approaches, and after revisiting my doctor, I took the SLUMS assessment and scored 26—within the normal range. I was elated and now hope to use my experience to guide others on their journey to cognitive and emotional well-being.
