Hey gang ..... I hope each of you will consider attending the "Readers to Leaders" Story Book Trail Grand Opening at Eubank Park on Saturday, July 3rd at 10am.

If you are unaware ...... this is the class project for our 2020 Chamber Leadership Class.

They have worked incredibly hard and this will be the first of many Story Book Trails that will be opened at parks across Pulaski County.

Be one of the first families to experience Pulaski County's FIRST Readers to Leaders Story Book Trail. The grand opening will begin at 10am ..... so don't be late !!!

Congratulations to 2020 Leadership Lake Cumberland Graduate Kathy Townsend, who recently joined the UK Markey Cancer Center's advisory board! She joins community members from across the state to give input on cancer-related needs in Kentucky.

Recently, the Chamber of Commerce was honored to kick off its 29th year of hosting our Chamber Leadership Program. With the largest class in recent memory, students participated in a mandatory 2-day retreat to kick-off the year.

Through lecture, presentations, practical exercises, visitations, independent study and meetings with key community leaders, class members will examine and experience ways to help the communities in which they live.

Very proud of the class project that our 2020 Chamber Leadership Class is currently organizing.

The "Readers to Leaders Story Book Trail" will create a series of signs that will dot along the trails of popular parks of the community. Each sign will hold a page from a children’s book, and following the trail will lead to the end of the story.

Yet another wonderful community project that will be facilitated Leadership Lake Cumberland. Great job gang !!!

Leadership Lake Cumberland Graduates 33 Students

SOMERSET, KY – After 6 months of hands-on learning, 33 local leaders have graduated from the 2020 Leadership Lake Cumberland Class.

Facilitated by the Somerset-Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Lake Cumberland (LLC) is designed to take community leaders on an expedition learning more about themselves, expanding their professional and social networks, developing an understanding of how our community works and examining important issues that impact Pulaski County’s future.

"The Chamber is proud to present the 2020 LLC graduating class, one of our signature programs for the past 20 years," said Bobby Clue, Executive Director of the Somerset-Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce. "Even though things looked different this year due to COVID-19, the graduates have put in time, energy and effort to develop their leadership skills and are now better prepared to serve our community."

The LLC Program has prepared its graduates by designing educational programs to broaden their knowledge of Pulaski County and the critical issues affecting our region, exposing them to leadership and civic organizations and taking them on in-depth exchanges on relevant issues with leadership experts from the community and the state.

LLC is an outlet for participants to gain access to leadership opportunities. It is intended for graduates to lend their talents to boards and committees of area organizations who are in need.

The world lost a bright light earlier this week.

We are sad to pass along the news that Norrie Wake recently passed away.

As many of you know, Norrie was a huge part of our Chamber Leadership Program. For over 15 years, Norrie was the host and facilitator of our annual retreat. He was the first person many of you met and the last person that talked with you at graduation.

Norrie's death is a heartbreaking loss for us all. We grieve with Nancy, the Wakes' children and grandchildren, and everyone who knew what a wonderful man Norrie was.

Cards and emails of condolence to Nancy are welcomed at their home. Look for Norrie's obituary in the paper in the coming days. We will inform you of local memorial plans when they are made in the future.
