FOOD FOR THOUGHT THIS MORMING, Who Are You Really Deceiving?

This is a serious question for anyone on TikTok, television, social media, or behind a pulpit who claims to speak in the name of God:

Who are you really deceiving?

When you tell people, “God told me to do this,” “God told me to say that,” or “God told me to ask for this offering, gift, support, or message about changes in the world,” and then nothing happens as you said—when the message fails, when the promise does not come to pass, and when the words prove to be your own thoughts and not the voice of God—who are you truly deceiving?

When you speak your own desires, opinions, plans, or imaginations as if they were the voice of the Lord, you are not only misleading people. You are dishonoring the holy name of God.

The Bible says:

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.”
— Galatians 6:7

You may be able to fool people for a season, but you cannot fool God. He sees the heart. He knows the motives. He knows what is truth, and He knows what is manipulation.

When you ask for money, furniture, cars, gifts, offerings, or support in the name of God while knowing in your heart that you are lying, exaggerating, cheating, or manipulating people, you may think you are deceiving others. But the truth is, the person in the greatest deception may be you.

If you are perfectly able to work, provide for yourself, and care for your family, but instead choose to stay home, sleep all day, and beg for help in God’s name, then you need to examine your heart before the Lord.

There are many innocent people who truly believe you. They trust your words. They respect your position. They believe your message. They give from their hearts because they think they are helping the work of God. But if all along you know your words are false, then you are using the name of God for your own benefit.

That is dangerous.

The Bible says:

“The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.”
— Proverbs 12:22

This message is not written with hatred, but with seriousness. It is a warning spoken in love. Using God’s name to deceive people is not faith. It is manipulation. Asking people to give because you claim God said something, when deep down you know He did not, is a dangerous place for your soul.

Jesus said:

“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.”
— Matthew 7:15

If this message is speaking to you, please stop before it is too late. Do not sell your soul for money, attention, followers, gifts, fame, or influence. Do not allow greed, pride, fear, or ambition to lead you farther away from God.

No amount of money is worth your soul. No platform is worth your soul. No title, no ministry, no applause, no offering, and no following is worth standing before God with a heart full of deception.

Jesus said:

“What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?”
— Matthew 16:26

Sometimes, when I see certain messages, certain faces, and certain appeals, I see stress, heaviness, and sadness. Maybe that is because deep inside, the soul knows the truth. Maybe the spirit is tired from carrying deception. Maybe God, in His mercy, is still giving time to repent.

And that is the good news: there is still mercy.

There is still forgiveness if you turn back to God with a sincere heart. There is still restoration if you humble yourself. But repentance is not just saying, “I am sorry.” Repentance means turning away from sin. It means telling the truth. It means stopping the deception. It means making things right wherever possible.

God is not looking for perfect people, but He is looking for honest hearts.

So humble yourself before the Lord. Confess the truth. Stop using His name falsely. Stop manipulating His people. Ask Him to cleanse your heart, restore your soul, and bring you back to truth.

Because in the end, people may be deceived for a time, but the one in the greatest danger is the person who believes they can deceive others in God’s name and still stand innocent before Him.

Jesus said:

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
— John 8:32

So again I ask: Who are you really deceiving?

Because God sees. God knows. And God will not be mocked.

Somerset Foundation Fall Mission Trip to Guatemala 🇬🇹
Christmas in November
Somerset Foundation is excited to announce our Fall Mission Trip to Guatemala from November 14–22, 2026.
This mission will be a special “Christmas in November” trip, as we share the love of Christ with children and families in need. We would like to invite anyone who feels called to serve, love, and make a difference to consider joining us.
During this mission, we will visit poor communities where we have served before, continuing to build relationships and help families in need. Our goal is to be consistent in these areas and bring encouragement, joy, and hope to the families we serve.
The cost of the trip will be $1,200 per person, plus airfare. This includes transportation, hotel accommodations, and meals from the time of arrival through the end of the mission on Friday. Saturday will be a free day, and each person will be responsible for their own expenses that day as we enjoy a beautiful place in Guatemala together.
The cost has increased due to higher fuel, bus transportation, food, lodging, and mission-related expenses.
We are praying for a wonderful team of people with willing hearts to serve. If you are interested in going or would like more information, please contact us.
We look forward to seeing what God will do through this mission trip!

On behalf of all of us at the Somerset Foundation, I want to sincerely thank each one of you who joined us at the Somerset Foundation Gala. Your presence meant more than words can express. By coming together, you are helping us make a difference in the lives of people who are hurting, struggling, and in need of hope.

The Somerset Foundation Gala was not simply an event. It was compassion in action. It was about opening our hearts to the needs of others and recognizing that together we can bring hope where there is despair, food where there is hunger, encouragement where there is discouragement, and love where there is loneliness.

We have been blessed to serve in many places around the world. From helping families in Kentucky and responding to disasters across the United States, to assisting young people in completing their education, and working with children and communities in Guatemala, Romania, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic, our mission remains the same: to help those in need, feed the hungry, educate children, provide medical care, and remind people that they are not forgotten and that they are loved.

Through the years, we have seen lives changed through medical missions, educational support, food programs, disaster relief efforts, and community outreach. We have seen children smile again, families encouraged, communities strengthened, and hope restored because of the kindness and generosity of people like you.

None of this would be possible without your prayers, your support, your giving, and your willingness to stand with us. Thank you for believing in this mission. Thank you for caring about people you may never personally meet. Thank you for helping us continue this work of love and compassion.

My prayer is that the Lord will continue to open our eyes and hearts to the needs around us, and that He would use each one of us to be His hands and feet in a world that needs His love, hope, healing, and peace.

Thank you again for being part of this special evening. May God richly bless you, your families, and all those you touch through your kindness and generosity.
