Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue is an effort grounded in love, dedication and determination. The dream of establishing this rescue started back in 2000 when a very special dog, Coco, passed away unexpectedly at age 5. The loss inspired Coco’s owner, 12 year-old Ashley, to save other canine friends in his name. Ashley and Coco had been the best of friends and it is in his name that this endeavor lives on…. CHDR depends on private donations to function and rescue friends in need.

Can you help this family?

When we received this urgent plea our hearts dropped… tears immediately filled our eyes. Pit in our stomachs. Momma is skin and bones, she has given everything to keep her 8 babies alive (you can see them sleeping in the background) 💔 - At an overcrowded shelter in Texas, they are desperately trying to find her a place to go, where she and her babies will be safe, loved and cared for. A place where momma can be nourished back to health, both body and soul. 😞

We are determined to find a foster family to welcome them (together), for about 8 -10 weeks. We also need formula donations to help supplemental feed, and donations towards their care. Momma needs a lot of TLC, we’re praying the stars align. This is their chance out. We have to make this happen.

Help us find them a foster family (within 2 hours of our clinic in Somerset) and help fundraise (hoping to raise $2500 towards their future care). They have a ride to us ••NEXT WEEKEND•• we need a foster family to welcome them. We provide all the supplies and support. She is reportedly to be super friendly and sweet, good with all humans with her babies and is even dog friendly. Can you help?

** NEEDS HELP OUT OF TX • FOSTER NEEDED **

When we first saw this girl, our first impression was how beautiful and unique she was! Her smile, though all the hardship. The second realization was doing the math… she has been sitting at a Texas shelter for almost two years…

She is approximately five years old... that means she has been there for almost half of her life.

Let's get this girl into a home!

Here is what the shelter says about her:

• Abby is an easygoing, well-rounded dog who truly is the total package.
• She gets along well with other dogs of all sizes and is house trained.
• She walks mostly well on a leash & enjoys getting out and about for walks or adventures.
• She is independent when she needs to be, but also absolutely loves one-on-one attention and quality time.
• One of her signature quirks is her love of sleeping on her back, completely relaxed & comfortable.
• She's an easy keeper who would do well in an apartment or home.
• She settles easily into new routines and enjoys a nice balance of quiet relaxation and time spent with her people.

She sounds like an amazing girl, doesn't she?! We are hoping to give her the opportunity to make the trip to the midwest, get settled in a foster home, and find an adopter who is excited to add her to their family!

The first step in that process is finding a committed foster to welcome her to rescue in about a week and a half. Our fingers are crossed!

Meet Marge!

Marge has been in foster care since July 2025, and for over a year now she’s been waiting for her forever family. She came from a commercial breeding background, where many dogs spend their whole lives in cages. When she first arrived, she had never experienced a house or a yard and was terrified of the world. Today, she’s a dog with a big personality who has come so far, and she’s still hoping the right person will find her.

What Marge loves:
-Wrestling with small dogs (she’s sweet, submissive, and has great manners with other animals)
-Zooming around the yard hunting chipmunks
-Chewing on a good bone
-Napping, which she’s a master at. She sleeps on her back with all four paws in the air!

What Marge is looking for:
Marge is a hands-off kind of girl. She’s happy to hang out near her people, but she isn’t a lap dog or a cuddle bug, and she’s still learning to trust touch. She’ll take treats from your hand, and with patience she’ll let you handle her for grooming. She’s never shown any sign of snarling or biting. She simply freezes when she’s unsure. A calm, low-traffic home with patient adults would be ideal. Kids could work if they understand she needs space and shouldn’t be petted or picked up.

Her perfect home has:
-Ideally, a fully fenced yard with a tall privacy fence (Marge is a flight risk and would be very hard to catch if she got out, so a secure yard is the best option for her)
-A relaxed pace, with a consistent daily routine to help with potty training. She’s about 90% outdoors, with pads for the rest
-Adopters who are comfortable with a dog who shows affection from a distance
-If you walk her outside the yard, use two points of contact (a slip lead plus a leash clipped to her harness)

Marge is moderate to low energy, so a big yard, a bone, and plenty of naps will keep her happy. She’s proof of what time and patience can do, and she’s ready to find the person who will see how special she is! Learn more and apply on our website!

Coco’s Heart welcomes and finds loving homes for hundreds of animals each month… thousands annually. In about a month, we head north for our Rescue Effort to help as many animals as we can before the brutal winter approaches. Meet Lille - a happy, sweet girl who just wants a human buddy to love her!

Lille is a little shadow and likes to follow her human around the house. She’s decided that her current foster mom is her person and doesn’t like to be far from her. Someone who doesn’t mind a “velcro dog” would be best for her.

She gets along well with the resident dogs in her foster home and likes to play with them. She is good with kids, including her foster family’s toddler. She is not going to be super outgoing when meeting new people but isn’t scared when meeting them.

Someone who is home often would be best the fit for her, as she has a bit of separation anxiety and barks when her humans first leave but does eventually settle down. Another dog companion in the home would also be helpful for her when her family is gone. If there is not another dog in the home, then a patient human teacher will be needed to help her adjust. Lille is still working on potty training. She doesn’t signal to go outside yet and still has some accidents. She likes to have a bathroom buddy to go out with her. Unlike some dogs who need their privacy, she’s most comfortable doing her business when her human is right next to her. She would do well with a yard without a fence as she would potty well on a leash. Lille is crate trained but prefers to sleep on the human bed. She wants to be as close as possible to her human, because she just loves being loved! She sleeps through the night with no problem and takes naps during the day.

If you're looking for a total sweetheart who will shower you with love, she’s your girl! She has so so so much love and loyalty to give! 🥹

This kiddo was sleeping outside in the cold the other night. Tonight is night 2 in a safe and loving foster home. We still have 6 more puppies from this situation looking for foster homes. Please follow our foster process if you think you can help!
