Somerset Scouting

Scouting for youth from ages 5-17 Welcome to the community page for Somerset Scouting. We offer two different programs based on age.

If you’re interested in having your child join scouting, you have come to the right place. We have a Cub Scout Pack serving children in ages 5-10 (K-4th grade), and a Scout Troop serving children 11-17 (5-12th grade). We love to be outdoors and instill that love in our youth, all while having fun. Cub Scouting means "doing" and the program is designed around active involvement. Hands-on activities

are used to achieve the aims of Scouting: citizenship training, character development and personal fitness. Meetings are held twice a month, with a fun, optional event, one weekend a month. Scouts BSA includes increasing responsibility, leadership experiences, camping, outdoor activities, service projects and a challenging, individualized advancement program mentored by adult volunteers. Weekly meetings are led and run by the Scouts, with adult guidance. Members are introduced to more than 100 hobby and career choices through merit badges and goal setting/achievement in an awards program that culminates in the rank of Eagle Scout. Both programs are open to boys and girls, and are completely run by volunteer support.

Build, paint, and race together with our scouts and other businesses, and turn a simple Saturday afternoon into a memory that lasts a lifetime!

Thank you to everyone who helped with our popcorn fundraiser and made donations to our Hero & Helpers Popcorn. Last week we were able to deliver popcorn goodies to our teachers at Somerset Elementary and St. Anne’s! Tonight we delivered to the Somerset Police and Somerset Fire Departments. The scouts had fun checking out handcuffs, the squad truck and car, and checking out the fire trucks and equipment! So grateful to have such amazing heroes in our community!

Hi neighbors! It’s that time again where scouts will be knocking on your doors (unless you have a no soliciting sign of course), asking you to support their scouting adventures.

How can you do this? Our scouts sell Trails End popcorn, collect donations for our Heroes and Helpers so we can deliver popcorn to our local heroes, and sell Christmas wreaths and various holiday decorations.

Not able to support them? We understand and appreciate your “no” just as much as your “yes.”

Don’t know a scout, but want to support? Thanks so much! Just let us know and we’ll put you in contact with one.

Thank you for helping them reach their goals so they can make the most of their scouting experience, and teaching them life skills.

Our scouts had fun at our first pack meeting learning about each other and working together to get their groups from one side of the “river” to the other. It’s all about teamwork!

Labor Day weekend has come and gone which means we’re that much closer to kicking off our program for the year! We can’t wait to welcome our current families back and meet new ones ready for an adventure!

We've been up to so many things, but forgot to share them with you, so here's a little recap...

In April, with your help, we collected 607 lbs of food for the Somerset Food Pantry. In May, we helped clean up St. Anne's Cemetery, awarded our scouts with the rank they worked on all year, and honored our fallen by walking in the Somerset Memorial Day parade. In June, we joined in the Pea Soup Day parade and sent our younger scouts to summer camp at both Kiwanis and Phillippo Scout Camps. In July, we sent our older scouts to summer camp at Tomahawk, helped pack meals at Feed My Starving Children, and then enjoyed an evening dip in the pool at Apple River Family Campground. There is never a lack of fun to be had!

Next week, we'll be having a BBQ picnic dinner and enjoying some time in the pool for those interested in getting in on the fun. We hope to see you there!
