The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police and Enfield Police Department are working to ensure safe and sustainable use at the Powder Hollow section of Scantic River State Park.

Beginning August 2, 2025, and continuing throughout the summer, DEEP’s EnCon Police and the Enfield Police Department will increase enforcement in this area. Officers from both departments will work to deter illegal parking, alcohol possession and excessive noise.

Visitors are reminded that Scantic River State Park is a linear hiking park with limited parking capacity. Any vehicle parked illegally in the park, or on town roads will be subject to being ticketed and/or towed. Additionally, alcohol consumption is not permitted at the park and will be actively monitored and enforced, along with any instances of excessive noise.

DEEP and the Town of Enfield encourage responsible use and recreation of this scenic state park. Up-to-date closure notifications will be posted on the CT State Parks X account . DEEP recommends checking prior to venturing out to a park, and to have a back-up plan in mind in the event the park is closed upon arrival. Visit www.ctparks.com to find another state park near you.
