After losing their 17-year-old daughter, Hannah, to brain cancer, Brad and Jill Sullivan discovered the life-changing power of being surrounded by others who had experienced a similar loss. That journey led them to found While We're Waiting, a ministry that provides retreats, support groups, and Christ-centered community for bereaved parents. Today, they help grieving families find hope by meeting them where they are and reminding them they don't have to walk through loss alone.

A prayer for today:

God, teach me to listen before I react.
Teach me to seek You before I decide.
Teach me to see the person behind the circumstance.
Teach me what is mine to carry and what belongs to You.
Teach me to love people without losing truth.
Teach me to surrender without demanding my preferred outcome.
Teach me to plant faithfully while I wait.
And when I cannot see what You are doing, remind me that You can see what I cannot.

My men's group have been studying the old leaders in the bible and it's shown how men turn toward or away from God which have led to interesting insights:

**If God hasn’t asked me to fix it, why am I trying to do His job?**

That doesn’t mean passivity. It means knowing what is **mine to carry—and what belongs to God.**

My prayer has become:

**“God, what is my role in this? What are You asking me to do? And how can I participate in Your will without trying to control the outcome?”**

I can control my words, my actions, my boundaries, my willingness to listen, love, apologize, pray, and obey.

But I can’t control someone else’s heart, choices, healing, or relationship with God.

**“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5**

**“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10**

Sometimes faith means doing what God has given us to do—and then trusting Him with the rest.

While our chestnuts orchard is establishing at the farm exciting news at our homefront. 1 of the chestnuts we planted at home has its first catkins and burs, this is its 3rd season of growth.

🌾 Summer Update from Love Your Neighbor Farm 🌾

Summer has been busy at the farm, and we're thankful for the many people who continue to support this mission.

This spring we reached a major milestone by securing financing for the farm property, allowing us to continue investing in the long-term vision of creating a place where stewardship, community, and ministry come together.

Some highlights from the season include:

🌳 Planting Asian pear trees along our creek walk with the help of volunteers from Antioch Church.

🌸 Launching our first cut flower production with zinnias, cosmos, snapdragons, strawflowers, sunflowers, and celosia.

🎃 Expanding beyond pumpkins by adding acorn squash and increasing our vegetable production.

🌻 Growing five acres of sunflowers that have attracted pollinators, deer, wild turkeys, songbirds, and countless beneficial insects.

🌰 Continuing to establish our orchard despite some setbacks, including rodents finding and consuming much of our chestnut seed stock. While disappointing, it reminded us that farming requires persistence and adaptability. Thank you to a generous donation, we were able to secure seedling stock as we continue building for the future.

♻️ Exploring a mulch production and reentry employment program that would create meaningful work opportunities while turning discarded pallets and wood waste into useful products for the community.

🏗️ Planning for the construction of a welcome pavilion later this summer that will serve future visitors, volunteers, educational programs, and ministry events.

As we look across the farm, we're reminded that the most meaningful things often take time to grow. Orchards, ministries, partnerships, and relationships all require patience, care, and faith.

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered, prayed, donated, shared advice, or simply encouraged us along the way. Your support is helping build something that we hope will serve our community for generations to come.
