Troop 504 was honored to tour the USS Cleveland and participate in a flag ceremony along with local Girl Scouts

This weekend the scouts will participate in activities of service with our charter organization, the Solon VFW, including the Solon Memorial Day parade Monday morning. The parade starts at Fire Station #2 at the Solon Gazebo, proceed south on SOM Center Road to Aurora Road on to Roselawn Cementary

This past weekend Troop 504 had a great time at our New Scout Outing.

Scouts were prepared for tent camping on the rain. They set up tents and learned outdoor skills while enjoying camp chili and skits.

If you've ever been camping as a scout, you know how great a bowl of chili and a night of skits can be!

Our troop, along with Lake Erie Council, had a great time at Beaumont Scout Reservation this weekend for Sap Camp!

Scouts learned how sap is harvested and becomes maple syrup, along with the history of syrup processing using Beaumont's own trees.

Other activities included:
🪚 2-man saw
🪓 tomahawk throwing
🍁 sap-like hikes

⛺️Our own Troop 504 hosted other nearby troops from Northeast Ohio in learning and practicing First Aid skills.

Scouts learned a variety of skills including how to treat
⛑️head injuries,
🩹bleeding injuries, and
🩼fractures.

🛟Along with learning safety practices, First Aid is a required requirement for scout rank and merit badges.

Thank you to all our fellow scouts and supports along with Lake Erie Council who helped make this annual event another success!

Troop 504 had a great weekend outing on our “Iron Chef Competition” at Manatoc Scout Reservation.

The scouts 🏕️camped overnight and 👨‍🍳cooked together, of course!

Along with tasting meals, scouts learned about nutrition and safe food preparation and storage. Lastly, what scout trip isn’t complete without S’mores! 🔥

It’s never too late to join Scouting! Troop 504 of Solon is currently recruiting boy ages 11-17

All interested potential scouts are welcome to visit a meeting prior to joining

Scouting with Troop 504 can include:
📆meeting twice a month on Thursdays at the Solon VFW
⛺️Monthly camp trips
🧭yearly week at Boy Scout camp
🥾biannual high adventure camp (This includes the infamous Philmount trip scheduled for Summer 2027!)

Completion of cub scouts is not required. Many of our scouts are new to scouting and involved in other activities while attending local public and private schools.

Scouts are not required to advance to Eagle rank but a frequent accomplishment of our scouts!

All scouts, no matter the rank or time commitment, all scouts learn skills for a lifetime- just ask our alum!
