We are a group of community members that come together, pooling money, to help a friend or neighbor that may have an unexpected need.
To join us, show up at our meeting, (April 30th at the Kenai River Center on Funny River Road at 5:30) and donate $100 at the meeting (or mail in advance). Anyone that donates can nominate a friend or neighbor who needs help and/or vote on who should receive these donations and in what amount (you must be present to nominate or vote). Our guidelines state that you cannot nominate yourself or a family member.
We don't duplicate what agencies can do but we try to fill in the gaps and 100% of what is donated goes to help someone. We ask that you know personally what the need is before you make a nomination of who to help. (We don't give anyone cash)
Some examples of the needs that we have met are unexpected medical situations, neighbors who cannot work due to a car accident or illness, the furnace quits and you live pay check to pay check. You know, the unexpected that can put a family behind financially!
