🌟 Vendor Spotlight: Friends of the Soldier Iowa Library 🌟

📚 The Friends of the Soldier Library have been helping keep the love of reading and lifelong learning alive in our community over the years. As the original library in Soldier, they've worked tirelessly to rejuvenate the inside of the building while creating a welcoming place for people of all ages to gather, learn, and connect.

🧃 Their fundraiser during RAGBRAI will feature a variety of healthy snacks, with proceeds going toward the purchase of new children's books for the library.

The Friends of the Soldier Library are much more than books. Throughout the year they bring our community together with:
📖 Book Club
☀️ Summer Reading Programs for Children
☕ Monthly Coffee Hour
✝️ Nondenominational Bible Study
💙 Monthly Bereavement Peer Support Group
🎨 Author visits, local speakers, painters, and writers

They also work closely with the Monona County libraries on monthly programs and activities while maintaining the Little Free Libraries throughout the area.

🌟 Vendor Spotlight: Soldier Lutheran Church (WELCA) & Soldier American Legion Auxilary 🌟

Two organizations with deep roots in Soldier are coming together to welcome RAGBRAI riders on July 19, 2026!

⛪ For 156+ years, Soldier Lutheran Church has been caring for the Soldier community with faith, compassion, and open hearts. Established before 1870, it is the only church in Soldier and has been part of generations of local families. Soldier Lutheran Church is a generational church, honoring its rich history while always looking toward the future.

🎖️ The Soldier American Legion Auxiliary, organized in 1930, proudly lives by the motto "Service, Not Self." They will be accepting donations to support their Flag project, presenting educational programs to area schools, providing scholarships to graduating students, purchasing veteran signs, giving donations to local families experiencing health issues, and purchasing grave markers for auxiliary members who have passed.

🥤 They'll be serving protein bars and bottled sports drinks to help keep riders fueled, while accepting donations to support their many community and veteran programs.
❤️ Be sure to pick up a red "Small Town with a Big Heart" beverage koozie—a perfect souvenir of your stop in Soldier and a great way to keep your drink cold on the ride.

Free will donations will help support:
🍽️ Updating Soldier Lutheran Church's 57-year-old kitchen
🇺🇸 The ongoing community service projects of the Soldier American Legion Auxiliary

This partnership is a wonderful example of what makes Soldier special—neighbors working together to strengthen their community and welcome visitors with open arms. While you're here, don't be surprised if you hear a few stories about our town, farming in the beautiful Loess Hills, or even a classic Ole & Lena joke from our resident Norwegians. UFFDA!
