e experiences and resources through equitable access to food security, the arts and education, to elevate the lives and well-being of all. Non-Discrimination Policy:
The KELCURT Foundation / Soddy-Daisy Community Library does not discriminate against anyone for any reason. We have designated the SDCL as a safe space. We have created a place where our patrons, no matter where they are in their human journey, can feel comfortable and respected. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement:
Everyone’s human journey is our journey. As Maya Angelou said, “In diversity, there is beauty and there is strength.” A society thrives when diversity is present and honored. Everyone has the right to thrive, and everyone requires different things for that to happen. We strive to provide everyone with what they need to succeed. All are welcome and celebrated for their knowledge, personal talents, and life experiences. Values Statement:
The KELCURT Foundation’s culture is driven by integrity, empathy, and the desire to elevate individuals, families, and organizations to improve society as a whole. Community - We perceive the word community as a verb, an active coming together of persons with diverse backgrounds and ideas working together for a more dynamic future. Education - More than just learning the basics of reading, writing, and math, education is an ongoing process that brings body, mind, and spirit to higher levels. A full education incorporates the arts, sciences, life experiences, and the soft skills necessary for healthy interpersonal relationships. Food Sustainability - We believe that no one should ever have to go hungry. For those seeking food security, we will equip them with the informational tools to become self-sustaining. Needs Response - As the old saying goes, “If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.” We believe that needs within the community should be sought out and addressed with action in a prompt manner. Stewardship - We believe that everyone has something to give, and that everyone has a responsibility to share those talents, abilities, and gifts to enhance the lives around them. Furthermore, we endeavor to provide opportunities for all to utilize their talents, abilities, and gifts in the elevation of others. Stewardship extends beyond human beings to encompass the earth and all of her residents and systems. Equity - “Leveling the Playing Field” does not mean everyone gets the same thing; rather, everyone gets what they need to flourish. Diversity - A society thrives when diversity is present and celebrated. We actively seek diversity in our patrons and community and support it with variety in our library collection, our programming, and our outreach. Discrimination Policy - The KELCURT Foundation / Soddy-Daisy Community Library does not discriminate against anyone for any reason. At the KELCURT Foundation, all of these values were the inspiration at our inception, and are the daily motivation for our ongoing work.
