Literacy Volunteers of Socorro County We are a non-profit organization that provides FREE literacy opportunities for adults and their families.

Literacy Volunteers of Socorro County was established in 1989 to foster and promote increased literacy among Socorro County's 18,000+ residents. LVSC provides literacy opportunities for learners 16 and older to acquire skills that will help them become more effective members in their families, communities, and workplaces.

The State of New Mexico has an Emergency Rental Assistance Program that currently has $170 million to distribute. These funds can cover overdue rent, up to three months of future rent, overdue or future utilities for those who are renting homes. A program for homeowners is coming soon. In order to qualify, you must be able to demonstrate economic hardship as a result of COVID (this is very flexible), you must be below 80% of the median income for the area, and you must be at risk of homelessness or housing instability as a result of the hardship. The funding needs to be distributed by September and the state needs people to apply! Here is the website with information:
