The Monthly Impact Statement is here! We couldn't fit all of our updates on here, so we'd like to add a few things:
The Saturday Center Youth Program held a Laundry Love event at Spin City in August that provided free laundry to youth and young adults! We also provided transportation assistance to 15 young people and helped an at-risk youth with a security deposit for a new apartment. The event was so well attended that we'll be hosting another one on September 19th.
With the help of the Catholic Foundation and the state SB3 funds, we were able to provide emergency crises assistance to 9 families! This helps keep people in housing and prevents homelessness in our community.
Socorro Spokes, our Community Bike Repair Shop, is now open on Thursdays! In August, the bike shop distributed 11 finished bikes and helped dozens of people with repairs. Stop by any Monday or Thursday from 5pm-7pm.
There will be a Halloween Party for Youth and Young adults between the ages of 16-24 at the Bike Repair Shop on October 31st.
Those of you who have signed up to donate monthly through our website are making a HUGE difference in what we are able to do at Puerto Seguro! Thank you for the way you care for the community.
The volunteers and staff are doing a remarkable job at each of the three locations and through all of our 5 programs. We'd like to take a moment here to thank the staff of our cooling centers, who have been on-call throughout the summer, coming in on very short notice to provide respite to the folks suffering through the heat! Thank you so much!
We couldn't do any of this without all of you.
You're the best, Socorro!
