❄️ Snyder Lions Club Weather Update ❄️

Due to the weather (and our strong desire to keep all fingers and toes), the Snyder Lions Club will NOT meet tomorrow, January 27.

We’ll be back next Tuesday, February 3, for our monthly business meeting—same Lion spirit, hopefully warmer temperatures. 🦁

In the meantime, stay warm, stay safe, and don’t test the roads unless you’re auditioning for the Winter Olympics.

💛 Goodfellows Giving Back 💛

Because of the incredible generosity of our community during the Goodfellows Food Drive, the Snyder Lions Club was able to make a $4,000 donation to the Snyder Food Cupboard.

Back in December, we were able to share a small donation of leftover food at the close of the drive, but we also wanted to be thoughtful stewards of the monetary gifts entrusted to us. Food insecurity doesn’t follow a holiday schedule — it’s something many families face year-round — and we know this support will help meet needs well beyond the Christmas season.

Thank you, Snyder, for always showing up with open hearts. This is what community looks like. 🦁💙

Today our Lions had the honor of volunteering at the Scurry County Senior Center, helping serve their annual Thanksgiving Dinner. We were proud to help plate up and serve meals to more than 100 guests, and it was a joy to see so many familiar faces from across our community.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt congratulations to Senior Center Director Tammy Quick on her upcoming retirement next month. Tammy has been a dedicated leader and a wonderful partner to the Snyder Lions Club for many years, and we are grateful for her kindness, service, and friendship.

Thank you, Tammy—and thank you to the Senior Center team—for allowing us to be part of such a special tradition. ❤️🦁🍽️

The Snyder Lions Club screened over 750 Pre-K through 3rd graders at Snyder Primary School this week—helping our youngest learners get a bright, healthy start to the school year.
Thanks to a grant from LCIF, matched by the Roby and Lamesa Lions Clubs, we were able to help purchase the Welch Allyn Spot Vision Screener—a quick, non-invasive tool that detects common vision issues in just seconds.
Why it matters:
Lions are committed to children’s vision. Early screening helps catch problems before they affect learning, and the Spot Screener can identify issues like nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and eye alignment concerns from a simple 3-foot scan.
A huge THANK YOU to Snyder Primary staff and all our volunteers who made the day a success. We Serve—and we’re proud to serve the kids of Snyder!

The Snyder Lions Club is once again helping local families in need through our annual Goodfellows Food Drive.

Applications can be picked up at the Snyder Chamber of Commerce and are in each edition of The Snyder News and can be turned in at The Snyder News office — or dropped off anytime in the night drop box located outside the office by December 5.

Together, we can make the holidays brighter for our neighbors in need. 💛

🎃🌭 Happy Hallo-weenie in the Park was a howling success! The Snyder Lions Club handed out 500 hotdogs and plenty of popcorn during Snyder Chamber of Commerce’s annual Halloween in the Park — and we couldn’t have done it without our amazing community partners!

🐾 Special thanks to Sonic Drive-In for donating all the condiments and to Cinema Snyder for helping us pop up the popcorn kernels! Your generosity helped make the evening extra special for kids (and grown-ups!) all across Towle Park.

And speaking of special — we couldn’t resist snapping a photo of this paws-itively adorable visitor dressed as Georgie from IT. 🐶🎈 We promise, this little clown only wanted hotdogs… not souls!

👻 From all of us at the Snyder Lions Club — thank you for helping make this year’s Happy Hallo-weenie in the Park frightfully fun!

We were honored to hear from the Ira FFA Agricultural Issues team, who presented their discussion on the “Make America Healthy Again” initiative — a topic encouraging communities to focus on nutrition, wellness, and sustainable living.

The FFA Agricultural Issues Forum is a leadership development event that challenges students to research a current issue facing agriculture, prepare a balanced presentation, and share it publicly. It helps young leaders learn advocacy, teamwork, and communication — all vital skills for the future of rural America.

We’re proud to see local students developing leadership and civic engagement through programs like FFA. Great job, Ira FFA! 💛💙

The Snyder Lions Club is serving up 500 FREE hotdogs this Halloween night at Towle Park, starting at 5 p.m.! 👻 Bring your ghouls, goblins, and hungry little monsters for a frightfully good time — while supplies last!

It’s our way of saying “fangs for your support” as we gear up for the 2025 Goodfellows Food Drive — coming soon! 🦁✨ Keep an eye out for details on how you can help us spread warmth, food, and community spirit this holiday season.

If you haven’t signed up to be a vendor at the Chamber of Commerce’s annual ‘Halloween in the Park’, call the chamber at 325-573-3558 or check out the event on their Facebbook page!

Today the Ira FFA PR (Public Relations) team presented their LDE (Leadership Development Event) project to the Snyder Lions Club. We were impressed with their polished communication skills, their teamwork, and their commitment to promoting agricultural education and leadership — the very goals of the LDE program.

A special thanks to the team for stepping up, sharing their project and giving our club fresh insight into how youth are developing leadership, speaking and public-relations skills through the National FFA Organization.
