💔 EVERY CALL IS A LIFE WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO ANSWER. 💔

Our phones have been ringing off the hook this past month.

Behind every call is an animal.

A dog who has run out of time.

A cat who has nowhere to go.

A horse who has been neglected.

A farm animal who needs a safe place.

A life that someone is desperately trying to save. 🐾

And the hardest part?
We haven't even had the opportunity to call most of them back. 😢
Not because we don't care.
Not because we don't want to help.
It's because the need is simply overwhelming.

Every day, we are faced with heartbreaking choices. We want to say YES to every animal who needs us, but we can only save as many lives as our resources allow.

That's where YOU come in. ❤️
Your support can be the difference between a desperate phone call going unanswered and an animal getting a second chance.

🙏 Please help us save more lives.
🐾 Become a monthly sponsor and provide the dependable support that helps us continue saying YES.
🐾 Or make a one-time tax-deductible donation — every dollar helps provide food, medical care, shelter, and the resources needed to rescue another life.
They don't have a voice.
They can't ask for help.
But YOU can be their voice.

🚨 PLEASE DON'T WAIT. 🚨
Somewhere right now, an animal is waiting for someone to say, “I will help you.” There are animals whose futures may depend on whether a rescue has the resources to answer that next phone call. We don't want to keep telling people we can't help. We want to be able to say YES. Your $5, $25, $50, or monthly sponsorship may seem small, but when we come together, those gifts become food, medical care, shelter — and most importantly, another chance at life. ❤️🐾

Please help us answer the calls.

Please help us save the lives waiting on the other end.

We are extremely grateful for the generous donation from The Show Low Deuce's Wild Rodeo Committee. They presented the 4th of July Rodeo for 15 years. During the times they donated their proceeds to various charities. We're extremely grateful to be chosen and we truly enjoyed our visit.

Today is International Charity Day.

The International Day of Charity is observed annually on September 5 to raise global awareness and encourage people, charities, and volunteer organizations to help others through philanthropic activities. September 5 was chosen by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012 (Resolution 67/105) to commemorate the anniversary of the death of Mother Teresa of Calcutta.

We are thankful for all of our supporters.

Thank you for caring too. 💖

Their freedom ride to the Sanctuary! We were rushing against a clock to get Maui and Vader here. They were going to be euthanized as every animal shelter and rescue group said they couldn't help because they were full.

We're grateful for animal control, the ex-family members, and neighbors who reached out to us to help them. Thank you also to those of you who donated to us toward their ongoing care.

Adoption follow-up: Sadie

Great Spirit Animal Sanctuary took Sadie off the euthanasia list at Snowflake Taylor Animal Control just two days before Christmas 2025.

Sadie was then 9 years old and a slightly built 60ish lb gal.

With a bit of investigation, we learned that only three years prior, Sadie’s original owner had died.

Sadie then went through FOUR more homes, losing each one through no fault of her own, before ending up at the animal control shelter. We understand that at one of those four homes, poor Sadie was living outdoors on a chain.

Sadie then entered the Great Spirit foster program. Amazingly, only six days later Sadie found her final forever home with one of our Great Spirit followers, Lif Strand.

Lif keeps an active life, hiking and running, and Sadie is always by her side. Otherwise, Lif and Sadie are at home with the two cats.

Lif reports that Sadie is the best behaved rescue dog that she’s ever had. She also says that Sadie especially loves truck rides and goes everywhere with her.

We want to extend an extra thanks to Lif for providing Sadie with good quality pet food, hip and joint supplements, and any vet visits as needed.

“I expect she's going to live a long happy life with me here!” says Lif.

Wishing Sadie many more years to come with her special person!

If you are reading this post about Sadie’s hardships after her first owner’s death and haven’t made plans for your pets upon your death, Great Spirit Animal Sanctuary offers a legacy program that allows you to enter into an agreement with the Sanctuary for the care of your pets when you can no longer care for them. You can also arrange things like a building for your pets with items the pets will know from your home. For more information on this, send a message or an email to [email protected] and let us know you want to learn more about setting up a legacy arrangement for your pets.

Friends, we need your financial support to save two dogs who are very much in need!

Maui and Vader’s owner has been ill for the past year and the dogs’ care was neglected. Their owner is now in hospice, and within days Maui and Vader will be homeless.

A friend of the owner has contacted shelters and rescues in the White Mountains and all over the state to take these two and was turned down everywhere.

Great Spirit Animal Sanctuary would like to take these two dogs, but we cannot do it without your help. Both dogs need vet care, which is an expense to the Sanctuary. Both dogs will need to be housed and fed, which is an expense to the Sanctuary. The owner unfortunately has no funds to leave to the dogs and no family to help. The friend is also unable to help.

So, yes, we want to take Maui and Vader, but, no, we can’t do it without YOUR help, without YOUR financial donations.

Here’s a little bit about Maui, a catahoula and heeler mix. She is about 14 years old and having some health issues, but she’s still got some s***k in her. Maui needs a vet check up including bloodwork.

Here’s a bit about Vader, a mini Shar Pei. He’s about 8 years old and has challenges with any other dog except Maui. He also has some challenges with people. He currently has two puncture wounds on his neck and a growth on one eye that are in need of vet attention.

As you can see, Vader and Maui both need attention to their nails.

If you can help with a donation for these two, please do. Donations may be made at www.greatspiritanimalsanctuary.org

We also take checks, Venmo, and Zelle. Leave a comment or send a message if you'd like that info. Thank you!
