She's one of our great tennis parents and the mother of Bonnie Gietz, a four-year starter for the Greene Central High School Lady Rams (started on the 1998 squad that reached the state finals for the first time in school history).

Jennifer Roberts Griffin is celebrating a birthday today! Griffin, a 1992 Greene Central High School graduate, played number one singles for four years and went on to win Eastern Plains All-Conference honors three times.

Greene Central High School, coached by Madison Tingen, downed visiting Ayden-Grifton High School 6-3 in an Eastern Plains Conference women's tennis match on Tuesday, October 6th. The win allowed the Lady Rams to finish the season as co-champions of the Eastern Plains Conference with Ayden-Grifton. The win also kept alive Greene Central's streak of consecutive conference championships at 33 years, the longest in the state in any sport. The Lady Rams have lost only three conference matches since the streak started midway through the 1993 season.

The Greene County Tennis Association would like to thank junior Sidney Rolison for volunteering seven hours on Saturday at the annual Snow Hill Fall USTA L6 Junior Tennis Tournament at the Greene Central High School Tennis Complex. Rolison has earned the Presidential Scholars Volunteer Award each of her first two years in high school for having over a hundred hours of volunteer service.

Aycock High School men's tennis coach and assistant women's tennis coach Craig Hassell for volunteering eight hours on Sunday at the annual Snow Hill Fall USTA L6 Junior Tennis Tournament at the Greene Central High School Tennis Complex.

Today is David Miller's birthday! Miller, a 1990 graduate of Greene Central High School, played four years for the Rams. As a senior, Miller earned Eastern Plains All-Conference honors on a strong 18-4 squad. He played number one doubles with freshman Brad Sauls and number two singles on the 1990 team as a senior.
