Grab your gloves, Snoqualmie! Everyone gets a chance to plant a tree, and we have 6 different species ready for the ground!

Bring the family for a 🔍 scavenger hunt and 🍕 pizza too! Registering helps us order enough pizza for everyone!

Celebrate fall by planting a tree with family and friends on Green Snoqualmie Day! 🌲

You're invited to join the 10th Annual Green Snoqualmie Day at Snoqualmie's very own Climate Change Adaptation Demonstration Forest on Oct. 3, 9 am to noon! This is the third year of work on this newly establishing forest, which represents resilience and stewardship in the face of a rapidly warming climate. The event is located adjacent to the Park Street Community Orchard, across the street from the Mount Si High School track.

Restoration of a healthy urban tree canopy fights the urban heat island effect by absorbing stormwater deep into the ground and keeping the city shady and cool. The trees you plant will provide habitat for native plants and wildlife for hundreds of years to come!

With your effort and hard work, the field and vacant lots between Park Street and the Snoqualmie River can be transformed into a diverse and climate-resilient ecosystem with drought-adapted shore pines from Washington's cliffs and coasts, Douglas-firs from Oregon, creeping Oregon-grape from eastern Washington and more!

Food and drinks are provided, as well as tools, training and gloves. This event is great for families, friends, youth groups, community organizations and work groups!

Thank you to our volunteers for our successful (and rainy!) planting event at McCullough & Silent Creek on Sunday! We had twelve volunteers, including a handful of Scouts from Snoqualmie Scout Troop 1776, help us boost the site's biodiversity by planting over 130 native plants, from Pacific madrona and Douglas' aster to Sitka willow and deer fern 🌿 Swipe to the end to see the transformation between 2008 and now!

The Green Snoqualmie Partnership was formed with one goal in mind: to provide Snoqualmie residents with the opportunity to conserve and restore the urban forest in their backyards, with the long-term vision of passing down healthy forests for future generations. 🌲 Why? Now, more than ever, Pacific Northwest forests are threatened by climate change and invasive species. Planting trees is one of the best things one can do to fight climate change! ✨ Expect to meet new friends, get some exercise, and learn more about the forest while you work!

Our late-summer volunteer events currently have a low number of sign-ups! Our Forest Stewards will be there whether it's rain or shine, 25 volunteers or none. These events are crucial for ensuring we have a successful planting season this fall. We encourage people of all ages, whether you live in Seattle, North Bend, or the heart of our city, to join us! Snacks, tools, and training are provided, and there are activities people of all ages can participate in! Just go to greensnoqualmie.org to register 😊

Here are our August events calendar and five reasons YOU should come to a Green Snoqualmie volunteer event!

*The Sun Aug 30th work party was replaced with a Wed Aug 26th work party.

1. Learn about and protect the biodiversity native to the region! You'll walk away knowing how to identify a new tree or flower, and you might get a chance to feast on some wild berries :) The birds, beetles, bees, beavers, and bears (!) will undoubtedly appreciate your hard work.

2. Get some physical exercise for a good cause! Taking out invasive blackberry and ivy can be easy with a good soundtrack and the right tools, but it will likely leave you a bit sore.

3. Meet like-minded forest advocates from around the community. What better way to meet people than by planting trees?

4. Fight the climate crisis! At Green Snoqualmie, we select drought-tolerant native plants to handle hotter, drier summers. These trees will sequester crucial CO2 from the atmosphere.

5. Leave a legacy for generations to come. Healthy forests can persist for hundreds of years, for the grandkids of our grandkids to enjoy.
