Hello to all our friends and followers and dog lovers, we have a bit of sad news about our group that you should all be aware of. Last year it was decided that Alpental Bark as a group was to disband the 501(c)3 and the dog program would no longer be known as Alpental BARK. Many of you have donated generously over the years which helped to train and equip the teams. The remaining funds we had were dispersed to other charities such as Kittitas County SAR K9 Teams, North West Avalanche Center, American Avalanche Association, ARRF Animal Rescue and the Snoqualmie Pass Volunteer Firefighters Association. We will continue to post important avalanche related information here to help all of you be better prepared when recreating in snow country, again thank you everyone for everything you have done to support us.

If you are planning to go snowshoeing or skiing in the backcountry, be sure to check the avalanche danger by going to the Northwest Avalanche Center website (nwac.us). The avalanche danger for much of the national forest, on the first day of December, is considerable and that means that natural avalanches are possible and human-triggered avalanches are likely. Also, keep in mind that trails that were safe and easy in the summer may be in avalanche terrain during winter.

The Northwest Avalanche Center map for December 1, 2022 shows areas of considerable and moderate avalanche danger.
