This page is here primarily for giving updates about what our center is doing to make a difference in the lives of wildlife. It is also here for the public to contact us in a new way. Oh and maybe get some donations.... That would be excellent!

2nd Chance Wildlife Care Center was founded by Shirley Shumway in 2002. While she had a longstanding career in wildlife rehabilitation prior to that, she

started the center because there was a need for her talents in her local community (And soon within a good portion of both Snohomish County and parts of King County) . She soon found that she could better meet the needs of the public by opening up her home, her life, and her compassionate ways. Since starting 2nd Chance, within her small 1/4 acre lot she manages to provide rehabilitation services to between 800 and 1000 animals in one years time. While Shirley is the Director of 2nd Chance, she know she could not be making such wonderful differences in the lives of these animals without the help of all her dedicated volunteer staff.
