On June 23, 1785, Lodge No. 44, Ancient York Masons was warranted at Duck Creek Cross Roads. This was one of the original seven Lodges chartered by the Provincial Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania. A charter was issued by the Grand Lodge of Delaware to Harmony Lodge No. 13, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, on January 19, 1825. The charter was later surrendered in 1833, but revived on June 27, 1867. Har
mony Lodge No. 13 has existed continuously since that date. Meetings were initially held at the Smyrna Town Hall (the current Smyrna Opera House), until the building was destroyed by a fire on December 25, 1948; most of the Lodge possessions, including the Charter, were destroyed in this fire. Afterwards, the Lodge met on the third floor of the Clayton Town Hall. The Lodge acquired its current location through the gracious efforts of it Brethren and the building was dedicated on November 19, 1977. Since its founding, Harmony Lodge No. 13 has fulfilled the mission of masonry by making good men better, caring and providing for its distressed Brethren and their families, and making the Smyrna/Clayton communities a better place.
