✅ Thanksgiving Foods Dogs Can Safely Eat (In Moderation):
- Turkey (Plain, Boneless, Skinless): Lean, cooked turkey breast is a good source of protein.
- Sweet Potatoes: Cooked plain (no butter, sugar, or marshmallows).
- Pumpkin (Plain, Canned or Cooked): Great for digestion, but avoid pie filling.
- Green Beans: Plain, cooked or raw, without seasoning.
- Carrots: Raw or cooked, plain.
- Apples: Sliced and seedless (remove core and seeds).
- Peas: Cooked plain, without seasoning.
- Cranberries: Fresh or dried, in small amounts (avoid sugary sauces).
- Mashed Potatoes: If plain and without butter, milk, or seasoning.
- Bread or Rolls: Small pieces of plain bread.
❌ Thanksgiving Foods Dogs Should AVOID:
- Turkey Bones and Skin: Bones can splinter, and skin is too fatty.
- Stuffing: Contains onions, garlic, and herbs, which are toxic to dogs.
- Gravy: High in fat and often contains onions or garlic.
- Mashed Potatoes with Butter/Cream: The added fats can upset digestion.
- Onions, Garlic, Leeks, and Chives: Toxic to dogs, even in small amounts.
- Chocolate and Desserts: Chocolate and xylitol (a sweetener) are highly toxic.
- Alcohol: Even small amounts are dangerous.
- Casseroles: Often contain unsafe ingredients like onions and creamy sauces.
- Ham and Fatty Meats: High fat content can cause pancreatitis.
- Nuts (Especially Macadamia Nuts): Can cause toxicity and severe illness.
- Grapes and Raisins: Highly toxic, can lead to kidney failure.
