Something spooky is coming to the fairgrounds… 👀🦇

Join us October 31 from 5–7 PM for a FREE evening of trick-or-treating at the fairgrounds! 🍬🕷️ Bring the kids, wear your best costumes, and come enjoy a fun Halloween night with our community!

🍭 Want to set up a booth and hand out candy? We’d love to have you! Businesses, churches, organizations, groups, and individuals are welcome to participate. Contact us if you’d like to reserve a spot.

🌭 FOOD TRUCKS WANTED! If you have a food truck and would like to set up during the event, please reach out to us for details!

Angel Tree Signups

The 32nd Annual DeKalb County Angel Tree Project signups are scheduled for Thursday, November 5, 2026. There are NO EXCEPTIONS. Application time is from 9 am until 6 pm at the First Baptist Church Life Enrichment Center under the carport.

Applicants must be DeKalb County residents. Children from birth to no older than age 12 by December 25, 2026 are eligible. You must bring photo identification and a bill with the correct current DeKalb County address of the person applying. You must also provide social security cards and birth certificates (Mother’s copy is okay) for all children listed on the application. Guardian paperwork for temporarily placed children is acceptable. Documents are returned to the applicant, only the application is kept. Please make sure you fill out the application as completely and accurately as possible.

If an applicant cannot appear in person, their application can be submitted by someone else as long as all of the required information and documentation is presented. Come prepared with all of the necessary documentation to complete your application

DEKALB COUNTY GOVERNMENT

NOTICE OF CLOSURE
The DeKalb County Courthouse, All County Offices and DeKalb County Complex will be CLOSED on Monday, October 12, 2026, in observance of Columbus Day.

Convenience Sites with DeKalb County Solid Waste will be open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on October 12 2026

Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

DeKalb County Sheriff Reestablishes Senior Safe Program to Protect Older Residents

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department is proud to announce the launch of the Senior Safe Program, an initiative designed to help safeguard senior citizens living in DeKalb County. This program provides daily wellness check-in calls to participating seniors, ensuring they are safe, supported, and never forgotten.

Under the Senior Safe Program, a member of the Sheriff’s Department will call each enrolled senior citizen every day. If a call goes unanswered, a deputy will be dispatched to conduct a welfare check and ensure the individual is safe, secure, and receiving any assistance that may be needed. This service not only offers increased protection for seniors but also provides peace of mind for family members who may not be able to check on their loved ones as often as they would like.

“The safety of our senior citizens is a top priority,” said Sheriff Brian Williams. “This program is designed to offer reassurance, connection, and an extra layer of protection for some of our most vulnerable community members.”

Families or caregivers who would like to enroll a loved one in the Senior Safe Program are encouraged to contact Sheriff Brian Williams at the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department by calling 615-597-4935, ext. 203. To complete enrollment, participants will need to provide the senior citizen’s name, phone number, physical address, and an emergency contact person with a current phone number.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department is committed to serving and protecting all residents and encourages families to take advantage of this free program designed to promote safety, independence, and peace of mind for DeKalb County seniors.
