At 5:24 AM this morning, the Smithtown Fire Department was dispatched for an accident involving a train and a tree that had fallen across the tracks.
The train struck a large tree just east of the Smithtown train station, causing damage to the engineer’s compartment. One person was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Units operated under the command of Assistant Chief Palazzo.
