Our Safe Harbour team and Child Advocacy Center leadership were recognized at the 40th Annual Child Abuse & Neglect / Family Violence Professional & Volunteer of the Year Award Ceremony.

Congratulations to Maria, Elizabeth, Andrea, Jahaira, Vanessa, and Keryn, our Community Educator who had the honor of presenting this award.

Each of them continues to show up every day with dedication, compassion, and a commitment to protecting and supporting youth and families in our community.

This recognition is more than an award, it reflects the impact of trauma-informed, survivor-centered work and the power of collaboration.

Our director of Nassau County’s CAC Debbie Lyons and Nassau Safe Harbours program supervisor Bee Romaine had the opportunity to present an overview of the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) and Safe Harbour Program at Woodward Alternative School in Freeport.

A special thank you to Nicole DeRosa, LMSW, School Social Worker at Woodward Children’s Center (center), for welcoming us and supporting this important conversation around youth safety, prevention, and awareness.

This year’s conference highlights collaborative efforts across Suffolk and Nassau Counties, bringing together professionals, community partners, and advocates committed to protecting vulnerable youth.

Our supervisor Stephanie Muller was present for an important meeting regarding Suffolk County’s proposed legislation aimed at increasing hotel/motel recordkeeping requirements and prohibiting hourly room rates.

This initiative is a powerful step toward reducing spaces where trafficking can occur and ensuring stronger protections for vulnerable youth in our community. We are grateful to see our county prioritizing safety, accountability, and prevention.

At EAC Network’s Safe Harbour Program, we remain committed to collaborating with county partners, advocating for survivor-centered policies, and working tirelessly to keep Suffolk and Nassau youth safe.
