**2025 SPRING SEASON ANNOUNCEMENT**

Good afternoon,

This is DJ Sims, Vice President of Softball Operations for Smiths Station Youth Softball. It pains us as a board to have to write this post, but we regret to inform you that the Spring 2025 season has been canceled. We do not, and will not have the numbers to field teams this season in any age group.

With that said, we wanted to go ahead and get out in front of this to make sure your girls still have an opportunity to play in Phenix City, if you so choose. They are holding registrations now through 2/6. I have spoken to their board president (Doug Brown) about this and anyone that wants to come over, they are more than happy to have you. I have a good relationship with their board, they are good people and all of which are new to their board, so they will be helpful if there are any questions that need to be asked. We had to go ahead and make this decision that wasn't easy, to ensure that the girls still had a place to play the game that we love.

We sent out an email earlier as well, we HAVE issued FULL refunds for your Spring fees that have been paid. Please refer to your bank on how long that may take to go back into your account. Some are already receiving them.

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions that you may have. I will answer any that I have the answers to.

I do not know what the future holds for the league for fall ball, but it has been an honor to be a part of this league as a dad, a coach, and a board member. If anyone wants to volunteer to help in the seasons to come, please visit the website and get involved.

UPDATED RULES & REGULATIONS FOR DRURY FIELDS

COACHES: Will be responsible for your teams parents/spectators, this means following all the rules below. You are leaders for our kids and the community and should act as such. If there is an issue with a parent/spectator they will be given one warning by the umpire. If another incident occurs, they will be ejected from the fields with the expectation of no return for the remainder of the night. If it happens twice, they will not be allowed back. This is a ZERO tolerance policy.

TO***CO / V**E USAGE: There is to be NO SMOKING or VA**NG inside the complex. If you are seen smoking or va**ng, you will be asked to take it outside the complex. There are signs all over the complex that insist that you not smoke or v**e, they are not just there for looks. Repeat offenders will be asked not to return. Coaches will be held responsible to holding their teams to this standard. IF YOU SMOKE OR V**E IN THE COMPLEX YOU WILL BE ASKED TO TAKE IT OUTSIDE THE FENCE, DO NOT ACT SURPRISED IF WE APPROACH YOU.

ALCOHOL USE: If you are drunk and become beligerant, your actions will not be tolerated. This is a ZERO tolerance policy, you will be asked to leave and will not be allowed back for the remainder of season, this is a one-shot rule. This goes for coaches, parents, family members, etc.

DRUG USE OR SUSPICION OF DRUG USE: Drug use of any kind has a ZERO tolerance policy. At practice, at the games, we will not confront you about this, we will just call the police and let them handle it. You will be banned permenantly. There will be no exceptions. Yes, we can smell it, so can everyone else.

COACH BACKGROUND CHECKS: We will be performing background checks on all coahces and assistant coaches. No exceptions. It is our duty to keep the kids safe.

APPROACHING UMPIRES: Only the head coach may approach an umpire to question a call. If an assistant coach approaches the umpire for any reason, they will be asked to return back to the dugout or coaching position. If a problem persist with any coach, that coach may be subject to being removed from the game.

**It is important as coaches, parents, umpires, and family to set a good example for our youth. What they see you do, they will no doubt repeat. Act with the knowledge that the children are watching you. Be who you want your children to be.**

We have received several messages and emails about registering today. So we will keep the form open until Monday 9/2. At that time registration will be closed, as we have to start working on scheduling, drafting teams, etc… Please get registered ASAP if you intend to play. We would love to have ya!

The lift has arrived. The lights issue will quickly be a thing of the past! Thank you DeWayne Wimberly for helping us navigate this issue. You championed our cause and we appreciate you!

If you were hesitant to sign up due to this issue, don’t let this be what keeps you from playing Fall Ball with us!

Time to move on from this and make sure we are positioned well for the future! Playing surfaces are being completely transformed next week. You will get a brand new experience from Smiths Station Youth Softball!

***REGISTRATION EXTENDED***

We are extending registration through Friday 8/30. This will be online only. If you need to make arrangements for an on-site registration, let us know and we will try our best to do that for you.

*****Important Update: On-Site Registration Postponed*****

Due to unforeseen circumstances, on-site registration scheduled for today has been postponed. The City has informed us that they need to spray for army worms and other pests, which will prevent us from accessing the fields for 12 hours.

We will reschedule today’s registration to a later date and keep the appointment on the 15th as planned. We will announce the new date for today's on-site registration as soon as possible.

Online registrations are still open. If you were planning to attend in person today, please either join us on the 15th or register online.
