This Memorial Day, we invite our community to gather and honor those who gave everything for our freedom.

The City of Glasgow will host a Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 25th at 10:00 AM at the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery, 303 Leslie Avenue.

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the Glasgow City Council Chamber.

We hope to see our community come together to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Edmund Rogers Chapter NSDAR recently presented awards to local area students.

The DAR Scholarship Award was presented to Jayanah Nuckols, Caverna High School. The award was presented by Linda Branstetter, Chair of the DAR Scholarship Committee, and Terry Bunnell, President and CEO of Peoples Bank, sponsor of the Scholarship Award.

The Good Citizens Awards were then presented by Martha Ann Jolly and Cherie Vaughan, Co-Chairs of the DAR Good Citizens Committee. The Good Citizen Award winners were as follows:

Barren County High School - Kaytlen Patrick
Glasgow High School - Raegan Blair
Glasgow Christian Academy - Jose Lopez
Metcalfe County High School - Jessica Sanders
Hart County High School - Anna Elizabeth Sims
Caverna High School - Jayanah Nuckols

Kaytlen Patrick from Barren County High School was also presented the Chapter JROTC Medal for Outstanding Cadet at the JROTC Ball in March.

A flag which had flown over the United States Capitol building was presented to Glasgow Christian Academy by Cherie Vaughan, Chair of the Flag Committee.
