Thanks to Michigan State University Extension, Harbor Impact now offers a Preserving Kit Library. You can check out canning equipment, dehydrators and other equipment to use in your home and return when you finish. MSU Extension also offers free food preservation classes, see attached flyer.

On Wednesday August 12, Harbor Impact hosted our 59th Pop Up Pantry. The event was Sponsored by Light of Christ Lutheran Church . They also provided many volunteers. A semi containing 21,039 pounds of food was distributed to 275 families. Other volunteers included DTE Energy employees, Advia Credit Union employees, Blue Water Free Methodist Church members and our Harbor Impact Staff. Thank you to everyone that made this event happen!!

We have completed our busiest month of the year. On Tuesday we served 524 families with food, clothing, pet food, medical supplies, household goods, and much more. We also served an additional 98 families with emergency food throughout the month. Overall, in July, we met 96 new families.

On top of that, Harbor Impact ran the North Gate at the 4H Fair. For six days our staff was out in the sun collecting entrance fees to the event. We are given a small percentage of the gate for our efforts. It has been our biggest fundraiser for the last 4 years.

Every year we host 12 Impact Day events, 10 Pop Up Pantries, and serve emergency food daily. We do this on an annual budget of $106,000. That's only $8800 a month! We could not do it without great supporters like Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, Community Foundation of St. Clair County, Blue Cross Complete of Michigan, DTE Energy, Advia Credit Union, Fifth Third Bank, Dollar General, Knights of Columbus, the Women's League of St. Clair, New Life Christian Academy, Vinckier Foods, at least a dozen local churches, numerous generous individuals and 100+ great volunteers.
