Calling All Vendors! Harrison Center for Active Aging is hosting a yard sale. If you would like to get rid of unwanted items, sell crafts, or handmade goods, this is the spot to be at on Saturday, September 12th. Spots are only $20 each, and all profits will directly benefit the seniors at the four Active Aging centers in Johnston County. This event is filling up fast! We are hiring! Community and Senior Services is looking for a Housing Maintenance Technician. Please take a moment to read the job description below or visit our website www.cssjohnston.org to view the full job listing.

Full job description:
Perform a variety of responsible semi-skilled tasks in maintaining, repairing, and renovating buildings, appliances, and grounds for the housing operations of the agency. Each employee has an assigned set of housing units to maintain. Independence, initiative, attention to detail, and resourcefulness are needed in determining the methods of maintenance to be used on a particular assignment. Work may be in response to resident requests, as a result of inspections, or be part of the process of preparing housing units for new residents. Employees are subject to working in both inside and outside environments, and to noise, vibration, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, exposure to chemicals, dust, fumes, and odors. Because of the nature of the work, employees are subject to the OSHA requirements on bloodborne pathogens.

Community and Senior Services has financial assistance for seniors 60 years of age or older. If you or someone you know in Johnston County is struggling to pay rent or utilities, please call today! To qualify, you must be able to provide a copy of the bill or invoice, and photo I.D. Payments can not exceed 2 months of delinquency. Funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are not guaranteed to be available.
