Good morning, Surry and Smithfield!

We are headed out to Breezy Hill Meadworks today from 10am-2pm for Sylvotherapy. This preventative therapy is proven to ease many common stressors experienced in the world of autism, such as feeling overwhelmed with change or difficulty with transitions.

Curious about Sylvotherapy? Come join us in the forest, alongside the creek, at the end of the path behind the Meadery. Bring a snack or lunch and a blanket to sit on and engage all five senses in this fully immersive therapeutic session.

🎉 Big News from Adult Autism Advocates! 🎉

We are incredibly proud to announce the promotion of Trevor Vincent Scott Scherrer to Wildcat Habitat Project Supervisor with the United Food Forest Foundation!

Trevor’s quiet leadership, joyful spirit, and unwavering presence continue to inspire everyone around him. In his new role, he will help oversee the creation of a woodland cave built from reclaimed materials and earth—a forever habitat designed to provide a safe home for six forest cats while demonstrating regenerative stewardship for generations to come. Congratulations, Trevor! We are so proud of you! 💚🌿

We also have two exciting opportunities to build an even stronger, more connected autism community!

🤝 Monthly In-Person Autism Support Groups
Beginning this fall, Adult Autism Advocates will host monthly support groups at St. Luke’s, creating a welcoming space where autistic adults can connect, build friendships, share experiences, and support one another in an environment where everyone belongs.

🙌 Volunteer Opportunity – Smithfield Farmers Market
We’re looking for 1–3 volunteers to help staff our Adult Autism Advocates booth at the Smithfield Farmers Market on Saturday, September 5, from 8:00 AM–12:15 PM.

Volunteers will:
• Help set up and take down our booth
• Welcome community members
• Share information about Adult Autism Advocates
• Distribute flyers to autistic adults and others who may be interested in joining our new in-person support group

If you enjoy meeting people, believe in creating a more inclusive community, and would like to help us reach adults who could benefit from connection and support, we’d love to have you join us!

To volunteer or learn more about our monthly support groups, send us a message or leave a comment below.

Together, we’re building a community where every autistic adult is valued, connected, and Always Accepted, Always. 💙🌱

Today’s Sylvotherapy session reminded us of something simple and profound: we are not separate from nature—we are nature.

🌿✨ Today in the forest, we slowed down enough to remember.

We sat beside the creek at Breezy Hill Meadworks, wrapped in blankets and surrounded by birdsong, rustling leaves, and the gentle music of living plants. We grounded ourselves in the Earth beneath our feet and opened our senses to the beauty that is always here, waiting for us to notice.

Then came the magic.

Through our PlantWave, we listened as the forest came alive in song. Each plant offered its own unique melody, reminding us that life is constantly communicating—through sound, vibration, stillness, and presence.

For a few precious hours, there was nowhere else to be and nothing else to do except breathe, listen, and belong.

This is the gift of Sylvotherapy: deep grounding, authentic connection, and the quiet realization that we are part of something infinitely larger and more beautiful than ourselves.

🌱 All humans. All abilities. All are welcome.

Join Adult Autism Advocates next Tuesday from 9:30–12:30 PM at Breezy Hill Meadworks in Smithfield, VA. Follow the trail beyond the event grounds into the forest and find us by the creek.

Come listen to nature with all your senses.
Come hear the forest sing.
Come home to yourself.

Always Accepted, Always. 💚
